The harbors about Sitka will also be sounded, and a map made of their findings. The party will be engaged up north for three years. A big supply of coal will be taken on Puget sound, and a steam launch will be towed along in order to work in shallow inlets successfully. The sur veying will be done in Portland inlet, This is where the boundary line begins, and much dispute has arisen of late over this point between the United States and British America.
