The Betnrn of Boothby.
Heppnee, Or., March 9. Hon. J. 8,
Booth by returned to his home in Lex
inzton this morning. He was met at
the depot by tne Lexington braes band
and a lame number of the citizens of
Lexington. The ladies bad hot coffee
and cake prepared and in waiting for
the crowd. .The train was kept in wait
ing for half an hour, daring which Rep
resentative Boothby made a short
speech. O. W. Patterson, of the cele
brated trio, made a short speech. The
train pulled out amid the cheers of the
crowd ahd music by the band. In fact,
it seems to have been a veritable out
burst, if all reports ,are correct.

Prominent Minister Drowned.
Tavabees, Fla., March 8 Rev Joseph
B. Cottrell, of Russell ville, Ky., whilst
standing on a half-sunken barge on the
shore of Lake Dora, was seized with ver
tigo, fell into the lake and was drowned,
Cottrell was a prominent Methodist
minister.
A severe rheumatic pain in the left
shoulder had troubled Mr. J. H. Loper,
a well known druggist of Des Moines,
Iowa, fov six months. At times the
pain was so severe that he could not lift
anything. With all he could do he
could not get rid of it until he applied

A. Church luvaded.
Paris, March 9 Socialists, headed by
Eugene Foure, went to the church of
Notre Dame ot Clinghan court yester
day, insulted the preacher and came to
blows with the worshipers. The police
were called and an hour passed before
the riot was subdued.

Acquitted of Murder.
Peoria, 111., March 8 Hansel B
Hopmeyer, who November 3 last, shot
and in 8 tan ty killed Officer Joseph
Schiller, who had arrested his son, was
today acquitted. The plea was self-defense,
and that the officer was acting
without a warrant.
