Semi Crash
A semi truck with trailer traveling westbound on Interstate 84
overturned on the overpass in Rowena, milepost 76, Wednesday
afternoon at approximately 3:42 p.m. Freeway traffic in both di-
rections was directed off at the Rowena exit, bypassing the crash.
No injuries were reported. Oregon State Police and Wasco County
Sheriff deputies responded to the crash.

‘School Exclusion
Day’ is Feb. 19
Oregon law requires
that all children attending
public and private schools,
preschools, Head Start and
certified child care facilities
have up-to-date immu-
nization documentation
(or have an exemption) to
remain in school, and the
date for exclusion this year is
Wednesday, Feb. 19.
The goal is to make sure
children are fully protected
against vaccine-preventable
diseases while attending
school. Immunization is a
safe way to help protect your
family, your school and your
community, against disease,
according to a news release
from the North Central
Public Health District.
Each year, North Central
Public Health District sends
a letter to the parents of
children that need additional
immunizations, indicating
what additional immuniza-
tions a child needs. Letters
are in the mail this week.
North Central Public
Health District typically
receives a large number of
walk-in clients needing to
be immunized the week of
school exclusion. Walk-in
clinic hours that week will
be Wednesday through
Friday, 8:30 a.m. to noon
and 1-5 p.m. Clients are
seen on a first-come-first-
served basis.
Parents seeking immuni-
zation for their child should
contact their primary care
provider, their pharmacist (if
the child is over 11 years of
age) or North Central Public
Health District during their
walk-in clinic hours.
You can also call 211 for
information about where
to go for immunizations in
your area.
In recent years there have
been changes: The hepatitis
A vaccine, which protects
against a communicable
viral infection, is a two-
dose series now required
for children 18 months
through tenth grade; Parents
wanting a new non-medical
exemption for their child
must provide documenta-
tion that they have received
education about the bene-
fits and risks of immuniza-
tion on a Vaccine Education
Certificate. Parents can get
education from a health
care practitioner or from
watching an online vaccine
education module. More

new process is available at
www.healthoregon.org/
vaccineexemption.
On Feb. 19, children
will not be able to attend
school or child care if their
records show missing
immunizations.
No child will be turned
away from North Central
Public Health District due to
a parents’ inability to pay for
required vaccines.
ReVoiced performance
to support TDMS music
ReVoiced, an a cappella
group from Florida, will
perform at The Dalles Civic
Auditorium Tuesday, Feb.
18.
Doors open at 6 p.m.,
performance begins 7 p.m.
Advance tickets are $10
students, $12 adults, avail-
able at Columbia Gorge
Toyota, The Dalles Middle

at the door.

These five charismatic
entertainers bring their dis-
tinct personalities together
to create an unforgettable
vocal experience. Its mem-
bers have received countless
vocal accolades, performing
on Broadway and television
shows like American Idol and
The Sing-Off.
One of the group’s long-
held commitments is their
self-managed Music in
Schools Tour, where they’ve
raised over $60,000 for music
education programs across
the country.
In 2017, reVoiced ex-
panded their community
outreach by partnering with
Best Buddies International, a
non-profit organization that
promotes awareness for indi-
viduals with intellectual and
developmental disabilities.
True to their roots, reVoiced
strives to make music that
makes a difference.

at Water’s Edge has a long
and rich history of bringing
healthcare directly to patients
in The Gorge community.
MCMC provides an exten-
sive menu of services with a
patient-centered philosophy,
from traditional in-office
visits to alternative pathways
of care that include tradition-
al home visits, residential
care of patients in local care
facilities and a post-acute
care service line.
Home visits can apply
to either acute events that
would cause leaving the
home to be too much of a
burden or can span a pa-
tient’s long-term relationship
with MCMC.
Residential care of patients
in local assisted living facil-
ities and adult foster care
programs are for patients
unable to come to Water’s
Edge for their care, and for
those for whom leaving their
home base is a burden.
Patients are visited directly
in their facilities for on-site,
primary care. This is often
done in concert with MCMC
Home Health Services.
The post-acute care ser-
vice line is for when a patient
is discharged and must
transition to a skilled nurs-
ing facility and their care is
overseen by a skilled nurse
practitioner and physician
in the clinic. This allows
patients to have the best
possible transition of care
and a “soft landing” upon
returning to their home.
“These alternative visit
types help insure we are able
to meet the health needs of
patients in our community,”
said McManigal.
