Harris, a senior, logged free- style wins in the 50-yard (24.87 seconds) and 100-yard (56.76), DiGennaro was tops in the 50-yard freestyle (26.78) and 100-yard butterfly (1:10.45), and Webber tacked on firsts in the 200-yard (2:15.03) and 500-yard freestyle (6:05.00). Skyler Coburn had a top finish in the boys 200-yard individual medley (2:41.54), Jonathan Snodgrass padded his stats with a first in the boys 500-yard freestyle (7:28.37), and Kennedy Abbas placed first in the girls 100-yard back- stroke (1:15.78). Taking seconds for the Riverhawk girls were Hannah Haight in the 500-yard freestyle (6:43.61) and Maisie Bandel-Ramirez in the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.22). Haight scored third place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:24.00), Paige Compton hit for third in the 200-yard (2:31.37) and 500-yard freestyle (7:04.14), Bandel- Ramirez cleaned up for third in the 50-yard freestyle (29.95) and Abbas turned in a third- place effort in the 200-yard individual medley (2:48.00). Hanna Rodriguez picked up fourth place in the 100-yard freestyle (1:16.31), Addison Little scored sixth in the 100- yard backstroke (1:41.87), Lydia Evans claimed sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:43.34), and Rodriguez chalked up seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (3:01.05). “The girls team has been doing amazing and they are winning a lot of races,” TD head coach Derek Shortt said. Boys taking second place individually were Xander Kirby in the 200-yard in- dividual medley (2:41.43). Snodgrass ended up third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:44.09), Cole placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:16.83), and Coburn was good for fourth place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:22.54). Cole reeled off fifth place in the 50-yard freestyle (27.16), Kirby added a fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:28.76), and William Hoover turned in a 1:26.93 for fifth place in the 100-yard breaststroke and was eighth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:12.80). The girls 400-yard free- style relay squad made up of Rodriguez, Compton, Haight and Abbas combined for a 4:49.48 to lock down second place, and Rodriguez, Evans, Bandel-Ramirez and Compton timed out in a solid 2:15.44 to secure fourth place the 200-yard freestyle relay. “I can’t tell you how proud I am of the girls relays,” Shortt said. “They are firing on all cyl- inders and swimming strong.” On the mark for the boys, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Harris, Coburn, Cole and Hoover dialed in a 1:48.40 to take second place, the 200-yard medley relay group- ing of Hoover, Coburn, Kirby and Snodgrass tallied second place after their 2:11.98. Harris, Kirby, Cole and Grant Loughmiller rounded out the relay standouts with their total of 4:13.98 in the boys 400-yard freestyle relay, which gave them third place. While he is a critical piece of the boys relays, Harris is making plenty of noise in his freestyle runs. “Bryce is having a killer year,” coach Shortt said. “He is under 25 seconds for the 50 freestyle and will do a lot of damage at districts.” As the season wears on, the schedule is expected to get much tougher for the Riverhawk swimmers. Up next, TD travels to Madras for a meet this weekend at 10 a.m. Saturday, and then they travel to Sam Barlow next Thursday, Jan. 30. Ranger boys climb into three-way tie for first place With eight league games left, Dufur, Horizon and Ione/ Arlington are deadlocked Rodriguez ■ Ray The Dalles Chronicle One game flip-flopped the Big Sky Conference boys standings Tuesday night. The Dufur Rangers jumped into a three-way tie for first place with Ione-Arlington and Horizon Christian after defeating Sherman by a 42-32 margin Tuesday in league action in Moro. Dufur led by 10 at the half and jumped ahead 36-22 entering the fourth quarter, until Sherman rallied for a 9-2 run in a three-minute span to make it a 38-31 mar- gin with 4:34 left. The Huskies had multiple chances to inch closer, but missed a shot and turned the ball over on consecutive possessions. Down 39-31 at the 2:35 mark, Sherman hit 1 of 2 free throws, got a stop, then rimmed out a 3-point chance, and forced a turnover on Dufur’s ensuing possession. In fact, Sherman missed its last six shots, committed two turnovers and sank 1 of 2 from the line in the final 4:34. Cooper Bales posted a game-high 18 points, Trey Darden added eight, Jacob Peters had five and both Caleb Olson and Gabe Petroff chipped in four points each. Owen Christiansen led Sherman with 10 points, Wade Fields poured in seven, Nick Riggs scored five and Will James dropped four points. Dufur (8-7 overall, 4-2 league) travels to South Wasco County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, hosts Echo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, and makes a trip to Ione/ Arlington for a league match- up at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1. Fourth-place Sherman (6-9, 4-3) hosts Horizon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, hosts Condon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, and is in Mitchell at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1. After the loss, SWC boys were faced with a win-out scenario. The South Wasco County Redsides held as much as a nine-point second-quarter advantage at one point and led 28-24 at the half, 41-40 after three, and jumped ahead by four points early in the final period, but Horizon Christian ended up posting a 13-8 edge down the stretch to pull off the 53-49 win Tuesday in Hood River. By virtue of Horizon’s vic- tory and SWC’s loss, there are six Big Sky Conference teams within a game of first place. For Horizon (7-7 overall, 4-2 league), Caleb Lingel had 20 points and Josh Rogers tacked on 13 points. Brock LaFaver paced SWC with 18 points, seven rebounds, two assists and five blocks. Monday, the Redsides traveled 477 round-trip miles to Crane for a non-league contest against the No. 22 Crane Mustangs, and used a combined 50 points out of Thomas, Olson and LaFaver to pull out the 62-46 triumph. Valentine’s Day Run slated The second race of the three-part Jumpstart Valentine’s Day Winter Trail 3k, 5k and 10k run/walk is planned for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Lewis and Clark Festival Park. Costs are $20 with a shirt with free racing socks and running gloves while supplies last, and $8 without a shirt by the pre-regis- tration cutoff of Feb. 5. On the day of, fees rise to $25 with a shirt and $10 without. Award medals are offered to the top 3 overall in each of the five age divisions, male and female.
