Volleyball Team Improves
Girls
Basketball
There is a very good turn out for
the Chemawa girls basketball team.
Nineteen girls are out to give it a trv.
Eight girls have returned from last
year - Hazel Noyes, Arkie Adolf.
Debbie Jane. Sandra Kahama. Tonea
Ballard, Denise Jane, Evelyn Small,
and Peggy Simpson. The last four
were on J.V.
Other girls that turned out were:
Rosetta Yallup. Juanita Reyes, Gail
Slockish, Blanch Slockish, Suzv
Yupe. Mary Bush. Silly Yallup,Tam
my Yallup. Shirlcv Elswell and Sand
ra Kahama.

win.
GIRLS BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
The volleyball team had a building
season. Chemawa lost to the most
team s in the league.
Top scorers for the varsity were
Debbie Jane with 51 points and Juan
ita Reyes right behind her with 48
points. Sue Adolph had 45 points,
Hazel Noyes 44, Denise Jane 38, and
Monica George 20.
The team was hurt by the lack of
height and had to play team s with
girls that were much taller. This lack
of height made the difference in close
games.
The junior varsity had some probl
em in early gam es but improved dur
ing the season. The JV team played
well by the end of the season.
Top scorer was W anda Bullchild
with 40 points, Others where Evelyn
Small-29, Susie Yupe-24, Irma Such-
20, Darlene W abunsee and Sandra
Frank with-9, Ann W ard and Sandra
Harrison also played for the JV ’s.The
Volleyball team was coached by Mr.
Klein.

Ralley Travels
Chemawa cheerleaders Carla Cas-
imir, Sue Decker, Sandra Kahama
andE velyn Small took part in a rally
contest at Riverside, California, last
week.
The Chemawa ralley squad will
compete against girls from other
Indian Boarding Schools including In
term ountain, St. John, Flandrue,
Chilaco, Ft. Sill, and Riverside.
Agenda for the trip called for the
girls and their advisors Mrs. Azure
and Mrs. Usery to leave November
18. There was a welcoming dance on
Friday, November 19. Competition
for ralley squads was scheduled for
Saturday, November 20.
