Mitchell Hall Goes Up
Mitchell Hall burned down on Sun
day, November 24. The 75 year old
dorm which was vacated before the
1976-77 school year started was set
on fire between 10 and 11 P.M.
As a result of the fire campus secu
rity has been increased and the South
campus is off limits except for sched
uled classes and activities.
The fire has been investigated by
Area Office, the FBI and many other
groups
and
agencies.

Those responsible for the fire have
been apprehended and are being de
tained until the courts take action.
Braves Win
Chemawa closed the 1976 Foot
ball Season with a positive foot
note by smashing Colton 44 to 12.
The Braves finished the season
2-7 as they also beat Santiam 12-2
for a Homecoming victory .
The Braves used a big 22 point thi
rd quarter to pad a 14-0 half time
lead. Gary Brown ripped off 203 yar
ds rushing to pave the way to victory.
Brown also accounted for 12 points as
lie scored on a 3 yard run and ran for
3 two points PATs.
Mcrv White figured in three touch
downs as he caught TD passes of 4
and 13 yard from Mooney Frank and
also returned a fumble 5 vards for a
TD.
Mooney Frank and Phil Campbell
got the other Chemawa TDs on short
runs of 2 and 3 yards, respectively.
Lew George rounded out the Brave
scoring with a 2 point conversion.
Both of Colton’s touchdowns came
on long plays in the fourth quarter.
The Vikings got one TD on a 47 yard
pass play while Tim Washam gave
the crowd a thrill with a 90 yard kick
off return for the second Colton TD.
Chemawa had 11 first downs to 6
for Colton. The Braves ended up with
273 net yards while the Vikings had
167 net vards.
Boys Basketball Starts
Boys basketball coach Ed John in
dicates that more than 20 boys are
out for basketball.
Returning letterman include: Gary
Brown. Robin Matt, Mooney Frank,
M en White, John St. Pierre, Phil
Campbell. Chuck Comenote,Mark
Brown and Ed Kagak.
Those out for the first time include:
Ronnie Tenas, Alvin Andy, James
Colhoff. Bill Sharp, Phil Riques,
Chune Hopkins, Lance Nanamkin,
Alec Beavea, Gary Aitkins, Randy
Markishtum, Marvin Devereaux, Dev
Frank and Henry St. Pierre.
Gary Brown, Robin Matt and Moo
ney Frank will most probably be
among the starting five for coach
John.
Coach John is happy with the turn
out and says that many of those out
are showing promise for the season
which starts in December.
