Travels To Scio
For Game Tonight

Girls Place Second A t Chemawa Invitational
Chemawa’s cross country team
members held their own at the
annual Chemawa Cross Country
Invitational Race on Saturday,
October 9. The girls and JV teams
were second in their respective
races while the Varsity was fourth.
Leeda Yallup was the over-all
winner of the girls event with a
time of 9:34 to lead the Chemawa
girls to a second place finish.
Team scores for the girls meet
were: Canyonville-31, Chemawa-
36, and Colton-53. Rosetta Yallup
was fourth, Delsie Green was
eight, Shirley Elwell was eleventh,
and Ivy Jake was twelveth for
Chemawa girls.
Marvin Devereaux ended up
in sixth place for the highest fin
ish, for Ihe Varsity. He was clocked
in 14:45: Scores for the varsity
event were: Canyonville-22, Regis-
51, Colton-58, Chemawa-79 and
Toledo-INC,

and Cary Shippentower finished
22nd through 25th, respectively.
Chemawa JV team members
finished 8th through 12th, re
spectively, to end up second. Jim
Reevy ran 8:41 to lead the JV
effort. He was followed by David
Sampson, Edgar Ponzo, Randy
Lewis and Otis Andrews.
Chemawa should collect its
second win of the football
sea
son as the Braves vist the Scio
Loggers at 8:00 PM Friday.
Both Chemawa and Scio are 1-3
in Tri-Rivers League play.
The Braves have been beaten
by Amity, Jefferson and Kennedy
in league play. But, Scio seems
to be a weaker defensive team
than Chemawa.
Chemawa fullback Gary Brown
continues to be the best offensive
threat for the Braves. Improving
passing could
help Chemawa
in the .offense department.
De
fense continues to be good, but
overworked at times as the of
fense sputters.
Still you should see the Braves
add another win today against Scio
to wreck the Loggers Homecoming
game. In fact Chemawa should
win most of the rest of its games
this season. Only Regis appears
to be more than the Braves can
handle. Our scouting reports show
Scio and Colton as probable foot
ball victories for the Braves this
season.
