Mrs. Thompson Joins the Tesm
The Chemawa Advisory School
Board has recently hired an Execu
tive Secretary.
Mrs. Margo Thompson started work
ing here April 2. She is now in the
process of familiarizing herself with
Chemawa and her new job, plus
catching up with a lot of paper work
for some months. She has the post
of former School Board Executive
Secretary Curtis DuPuis.
Mrs. Thompson is a Warm Springs
Indian. She has had past experience
as assistant manager at the Kah-nee-
ta Resort at Warm Springs, as well
as
sales, catering and public rela
tions at Kah-nee-ta as an Executive
Secretary. She has also worked at
the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory
in California. Her husband is Cham
ber of Commerce Manager in Woodburn
and they have a four-year-old son.
Mrs. Thompson has also been
hired as an on-campus representative
for the Chemawa Advisory School
Board, and her office is in the Ad
ministration Building. She said she
would like very much to keep in con
tact with the student representatives
for the Advisory Board.
Mrs. Thompson said that her work
is basically oriented with people
and the public. She mentioned, “ If
the students would like to ask ques
tions or see possible changes, they
should bring them to me or to the
student representatives.”

The
student representatives for
next year are Linda Jane (Senior),
Darlene Madros (Junior) and Debbie
Jane (Sophomore).
Mrs. Thompson said she would be
very happy to attend any meetings of
clubs on campus. “ I ’d be happy to
participate in these meetings during
the day or evening,” she commented.
Just a Thought
Suppose we had a day when nobody
skipped. What might happen?
Teachers^ would be amazed. Mr.
Markishtum and Mr. Bartlett would
have time to swap fishing stories.
Choctaw could draw doodles on
unused tardy passes.
Guidance
would wonder if everyone was sick.
Plant Management would suspect a
plot somewhere.
And
some students might learn
some things in these last few weeks.
They might complete some more
assignments and raise their grades.
And who knows? Regular attendance
might even get to be habit-forming.

Council
Motes
With the election of the 1974—75
Student Council Officers, Student
Council is now preparing for the
closing of the school year. Officers
for the coming year are President
Don Abrahamson from Omak, Wash
ington; Vice-President Keith Kerwin
from Deggs, Oklahoma; Secretary
Becki Noyes from Omak, Washington
and Treasurer Margie Smith from
Kiana, Alaska.
The installation banquet for the
incoming officers was held on May 7
at the McNary Golf Course. The new
officers are now preparing for the
upcoming school year and their new
jobs.
This year Student Council has
been involved in the Marion County
Youth Council, Capital Conference
Student Council League meetings and
have
represented Chemawa at the
Salem City Youth Council. Repre
sentatives from Student Council have
also attended meetings with the
architects regarding the designing of
the new Chemawa.
Next year for the first time a lead
ership class will be offered for
Student Council representatives.
This will allow Student Council more
time to devote to regular business.
One of the projects the leadership
class will work on is a Student Bill
of Rights. This has been one of the
Student Council’s goals for a long
time. Hopefully, with the leadership
class this will be possible.
