Sunday evening, December 29,
Chemawa received an unwelcome
s u r p r i se i n th e fo rm o f
stormy weather. Early in the
e v e n in g a ‘ la z y snow began
f a l l i n g and f a l l i n g , w h ile
the temperature kept dropping
, The n e x t m o rn in g ' s tu d e n ts
gazed out upon an e ig h t inch
blanket Of w h ite w ith a tem
perature o f 9 above zero. Not
much o f a s t o r m , i n some
p e o p le 's books, but q u ite a
storm f o r Chemawa. C lasses
went on as usual w ith most
stu d e n ts in a ttenda nce, but
w ith about ten teachers th a t
cou1 d n ' t bra ve the elemen t s .
Tuesday saw a •c o n tin u a ti on
o f the same w?th a few frozen
pipes to plague the m ainten
ance crews.
However,. .1 i ke a l l s torms i n
th is area, i t was warm again
by New Year's Day and back to
a d r iz z ly rainy w ith no snow
on the ground. This happens
every fo u r Or ^ i ve years.
