HOMECOMING A BIG SUCCESS

What is hoped w ill become an an
nual event was the F a ll Sports Ban
quet, which was held a t
Crampton
Hall Dining Hall on November 30. The
purpose of the banquet was to pass
out the awards and give sp ecia l re
cognition to those students that had
turned in excetional
performances
in some p articu la r event.
One of the n icest things about a
trophy presented a t th is banquet is
the small individual pieces that are
given to the student to keep
while
th e ir name is engraved on the large
ones before they are placed in
the
trophy case.
G irls were also in attendance at
th is banquet and in addition to the
usual emblems fo r cheer leading and
pep club, plaques were presented to
the g ir ls that had excelled in the
physical fitn e s s t e s ts .

How busy is the post o ffice ? Ac
cording to Mrs. DeBoer,
the post
m istress, i t is busier than
people
think i t would be. Students and fa c
u lty purchase about a thousand pos
tage stamps per week. Many fa c u lty
as w ell as students mail th e ir pack
ages here. Because of the fa c t that
i t is open on Saturday mornings, i t
sometimes gets packages fo r mailing
from downtown b u sin e ss men.
The biggest sin gle event in each
homecoming is the Letterman’ s
Clut
selectio n of a king and queen. This
year Glenn Cook and Fannie T r itt won
the honor of representing the school
in th is capacity. Both of them are
juniors.

campus cleanup Thursday
afternoor
October 15. This was followed by
a
candlelight dinner and the
bonfire
a t 7:00 P.M.
Friday morning the students were
treated to one of the most co lorfu l
parages in quite some time.

row that the Class of 68, has won ill

That afternoon The Braves defeat
ed Jefferson on the gridiron by
a
score of 21-20. This was The Braves
only win of the season even though
they had one of the hardest playing
teams in a long time.
An added feature th is year was a
cross-country in v ita tio n a l meet at
half-tim e. Chemawa won both the var
s it y and junior v a r s ity trophys
in
th is event.
The day
was completed with the
dance that evening and the crowning
o f King Glenn and Queen Fannie.
