ARTS AND CRAFTS SALE
The first Sunday of each Decem
ber an Arts and Crafts sale is held
in Winona Hall. Many people come
to buy the things the girls make. In
this way the girls can make some
spending money. This year they had
tablecloths, tote bags, Eskimo yo
yos, dolls, copper and mosaic pic
tures. Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Stev
enson’s classes had table arrange
ments to sell. Tea was served in
the dinette. The girls enjoyed
meeting many new people.

New Year’s Eve the Recreation
Leaders Club sponsored a dance
for the older students while the
younger students enjoyed a special
movie. There were balloons and
noise makers for all. A combo band
played for the dance.

When I was down town I had my
first experience riding in an eleva
tor. The elevator went so fast you
couldn’t tell whether you were go
ing up or down. I had seen pic
tures of elevators but this was my
first ride.

When I went shoping I thought
I might get lost but I followed
some of the girls. I found the things
I wanted,an the stores. It is a big
town. If you get lost always look
for the tallest building, the Stev
ens Building, and you can find your
way.

About 100 girls have been going
to town to shop on Monday eve
nings. There are so many things to
see. During the Christmas season
it was so beautiful. In the stores
were Santa Clauses talking to the
children; Christmas music; and so
many beautiful lights, and decora
tions.

The Fashiori Show I attended at
North Salem High School was in
teresting and worthwhile. There
were many things to learn about
hair styling, grooming and the prop
er clothes" to wear. The Chemawa
girls found it very interesting.
OFF CAMPUS CHURCH SERVICE
Many students attend services at
their own church in town each Sun
day. Some of the groups are:
Friends, Episcopalian, Church of
God, Baptist and Lutheran, Regu
lar Catholic and Protestant services
are held on campus for other stu
dents.
OREGON STATE— STANFORD
FOOTBALL GAME
About 40 boys attended the Ore
gon State-Stanford University foot
ball game at Corvallis. The Oregon
State Beavers won over the Stan
ford Indians 10-7. It was an excit
ing game.

STUDENTS ATTEND RODEO
When I went to the Fairgrounds
to the Rodeo it was very exciting
to see the men riding all those wild
animals. There was horse riding,
steer riding, calf roping and calf
tying.
