CHEMAWA SPORTS HIGHLIGHTS
I like to work on Saturdays be
cause I earn money while working
and at the same time I am learning
new things. I have been using some
new cleaning equipment.
Every Saturday I go to Salem on
the Chemawa bus and theft I take
the Boone Road bus to get to my
job.
From my employer’s kitchen
window I can see Salem. I can see
the planes landing at McNary air
port. The planes remind me of
when I take off for Alaska.

Saturday I went shopping with
my employer, Mrs. Winger. We
went to the new shopping center
which was built this winter. There
were many people shopping. Chil
dren were getting candy and cook
ies free. I got a cup of free juice.
I watched the band playing and
marching outside the Piggly Wig
gly shopping center. They were all
dressed in red and black. What a
joyful scene I saw last Saturday!

OUR FIRST RELOCATION
We are sorry and happy to see
the first student leave our class
room for a job on relocation. We
are sorry to have Aloyisus Nuku-
suk leave and happy to know that
he has a job.
Aloyisus is one of the boys from
Vocational 11 class. He left for San-
Francisco, California on January
20, 1963.
There are many qualifications
that you must meet if you want to
go out on a job. First you must take
and pass the G. A. T. B. test. You
take that test in Salem, it shows
your ability and the work that you
are best qualified to do. You must
take a classroom test. You have to
pass a physical examination which
is given at the Health Center. You
must be in good health to go out
on a job. Aloyisus took all these
and passed so now he is on the job.
Good luck, Aloyisus, we want you
to do good work. We know that
some days you will be lonely and
homesick but we hope that you
will stick to your job. We know
that you will try to do your best
and become a good reliable worker.

BRAVES WIN B LEAGUE TITLE

Chemawa’s basketball team has
had a very good year this year.
They have won 18 games and lost
only 4. They also tied for the Mar
ion “B” league championship. Boys
chosen for the “All League” team
were Roger Henry and Gurley Mar
tin. Scoring in the top ten in the
league, Roger Henry is second and
Curley Martin 6th. Two boys, Roger
Henry and Curley Martin, were se
lected to the McClaren All-Tourna-
ftient team in December 1962. Rog
er Henry has been outstanding for
the Chemawa team for the last
three years.

INTRAMURAL SPORTS
The Holiday-All State Basketball
tournament was won by New Mex
ico No. 1 with a four win and no
loss record followed by Colorado
and Arizona No. 1 with a three-
one record.
On Washington’s Birthday, the
American League and National
League, 'both intramural leagues
challenged the “B” team. The “B”
team took both games after rug
ged battles; The scores National
League All Stars 21—“B” team-
second unit 23. American League

"B" Team Highlights:
The “B” teaih’s record this year
was 10-5. Two losses were in over
time.
The Junior Varsity scored a total
of 629 points to our opponents 504.

We are very happy to see a iftem-
ber of the Junior Varsity up on his
feet again. Lester Henry has been
ill for some time.
A group of Mitchell Hall boys
will be participating in a Grade
School Sport Day Basketball Tour
nament at Linfield College March
8th & 9th. Good luck to them.
