OUR DOORS
All the time you open doors;
doors to houses, 7 schools, and
churches.
In school it seems to be that way,
too. When we all first enter school,
we open our door for the purpose
of learning to live a better way and
maybe have a better job.
When you finish with elementary
school, don’t delay, but go on to
high school. High school means a
lot. It will help you get a better job.
As you go through the school
years always have these ideals with
you, courtesy, honesty, loyalty,
fairness, tenderness, and sociability.
You could start now to work for
your next doors that need to be
opened. Help to keep them open
for your friends, sisters and bro
thers.

HOW TO BE POPULAR
All of us want to be popular but
many of us do not know how to
become popular. Here are a few
hints that we worked out in our
class:
The popular student - - -
Is friendly with everyone.
Is fun to foe with.
Is a good listener.
Isn’t shy.
Has good manners.
Has good grooming.
Has a good attitude.
Has a good reputation.
Has school spirit.
Uses good English.
Doesn’t swear.
Leaves other people’s property
alone.
Shows gratitude.
Obeys rules.
8th grade.
What's In It For You?
OPPORTUNITIES
Here at Chemawa we have many
opportunities among which is get-
placed on a job. This opportunity
is for some of us who are finishing
our training this year. The Voca
tional 1 students who want to stay
for summer may do so if they have
their parents’ permission. They may
be placed on a job if they know
how to act on a job. I think that
most of us do. We know what is
meant by good attitudes toward
your job and employer. We use
good ftianners when we are on a
job and when we are off the job,
No student can be placed who has
a poor record here at school. He
needs to have good work habits,
good attitudes and a clean personal
appearance. A student who drinks
should not be placed. May we all
profit from the training we have
received here at school so that we
will foe good workers and good
citizens.

WHILE WE SLEEP
We are fortunate to have such
a nice place as Chemawa in which
to live, Here there are many staff
members who are always trying t<5
do their best to help us. I would
like to tell you about three of these
staff members who many of us do
not see very often because they do
most of their work at night.
They are Mr. David, Mr. Beyon
and Mr. Brusven. Mr. David and
Mr. Beyon work as janitors. They
clean the halls in the school build
ings, they clean the auditorium and
many other places. Mr. Randolph
acts as night watchman to relieve
Mr. Brusvan. Mr. Norman Brusvan
is the night watchman. He sees that
everything is safe around the cam
pus. He sees that all the buildings^
doors are locked and the lights are
off in the buildings that are not
being used. Our night watchmen
protect us from danger while we
sleep through the night.

RAILROAD CROSSINGS
We should look both ways before
we go across the railroad tracks.
Stop when the red light is blink
ing and the signal is ringing.

Whaf’s in it for you when you go
to church on Sunday morning?
What do you think of when you go
into the auditorium on Sunday
morning? The auditorium is used
for many purposes during the week,
like mbvies and assemblies. But on
Sunday it is used for a very special
purpose, just like a regular church.
It is a place to listen to a sermon,
adore God, and pray, so we should
have respect while we are there.
Do you ever think of how much
time you spend each week on pray
ing and church work? You are at
church for two hours out of seven
days. That isn’t enough for most of
Us. So spend your two hours of time
wisely in church.
There is always time for fun and
laughter after church. But when
you are in church that is the time
to be quiet and listening. It is a
part of your education also.
So remember that wherever you
go to church, God is there,, and be
have in the auditorium like you
should in any other church.

WINNERS, ALL
We think of the basketball play
ers as winners alone. But we don’t
realize how much other /students
are winners, too, every day. For
instance, the school months are al
most over, and for those of you who
are graduating this year if you
have worked hard and made pro
gress in these past few months you
are the winners. Also for some stu
dents that have little problems, if
they stand up under them instead
of letting the problems get them
down, and get over with them,
they are the winners, too. So let’s
stop and think about each other,
and give each other our thoughts
as winners, all!

CHEMAWA SCHOOL
Chemawa Indian School is a good
school for boys and girls to be in if
they want to learn. It is a good
school because the students do not
only read about things but they- ac-
tually see many things and learn
many things.
There are boys getting training in
different shops, and on the farm.
Boys learn to drive cars and work
with many different tools.
