PATSY OCHIHO TO BE
BIRTHDAY PARTY QUEEN
The f in a l count revealed th a t Patsy, Ochiho, whose home i s in
Fort Bidwell, C alifornia, was chosen by ChemaWa Students to rei$ a
over the school’s seventy-fourth birthday c e le b ra tio n .
Patsy was nominated by her classm ates, the seniors, as was
Geraldine Hamlin, who was elected to be a princess in the queen’s
court.
Other princesses chosen are Louise Benally, f i f t h year
Navajo programs ,Mhry E lla T e lle r, fourth year Navajo program,*
Delores Bennett, ju n io r c lass; Lavinia Johnson, sophomore c lass;
and Marilyn Luke, freshman c la s s .
George umtuch, a ju n io r from
Warm Springs, Oregon, was elected, to the honor of escorting Queen
Patsy.
Campaigning th is year was s p ir ite d ,
Students put up posters
in the d jning h a l l , dorm itories, sto re , and school buildings fo r
th e ir fav o rite candidates, and an assembly a t which nominees wepe
introduced to the student body, was held.
F a rre ll Gallineau, a sen io r, emceed the assembly.
For the
seniors, Sarah Lewis made the campaign speech fo r Patsy Ochiho, and
Arlene Vaile for Geraldine Hamlin.
Jane Badoni introduced candidates
