HOME LIVING
WINONA HALL
Gales of laughter could be heard
coming from the "rec room" at Wi
nona last Sunday night when the
Winona girls had an amateur hour.
Many girls displayed hidden talents.
Luiie George and Augustine Phillips
walked away with the first prize
with their rendition of "Ole Man
River" in black-fae.
Other prize
winners were Anna Mae Sharp,
Yvonne LeClair, the Junior club girls,
Mary Eyle, Dorothy Harris, Wilma
Olson and Edith LeClair in an ori
ginal skit written by Mary Eyle.
Many girls participated in the ama
teur hour sponsored by the House
Council with Ida Jean McCash in
charge.
Guests invited were Mr.
and Mrs. Holm, Mr. and Mrs. Mason,
Miss Gordon and Mrs. Burley.
Congratulations to Unit II and
their councillor Eleanor Foster for
winning the March unit award. They
enjoyed a movie in Salem. Unit VI
proved to be good competition and
the building really shined with these
two Units doing extra volunteer
work. Unit VI with Christine Millett
as Councillor lost the award by only
a few points so they received as
"runners-up" four dollars from the
dormitory fund and so had an en
joyable invitational party in the
dinette on Tuesday evening.
The house council did real well
when hey sold pop, candy and pop
corn at the Friday night dance so
they intend having a party and real
ly "splurging."
The house council is very glad to
welcome Joan Smith and Louise
Benally into the council as council
lors for Unit VII and Unit VIII.
Hiking for Winona hall girls be
gins on Monday. The girls enjoy
the hike as well as getting to earn
more points toward the girls athletic
association awards.
Sarah Lewis,
sports councillor keeps the record of
all points earned in all sports.
"The Panthers" with Marjorie Tat
toed as captain won the girls basket
ball tournament so they enjoyed a
big "feed" for being the champions.
The "Hazel Nuts" with Hazel Poog
as captain were "runners up" so
they had a pop corn treat on Satur
day night. Now there is a softball
tournament goin on with 7 teams in
the tournament captained by Mary
Lane, Delores Bennett, Lutie George,
Ramona Calvin, Christine Millett,
Lorraine Farmer, and Dorothy Harris.
Games are played off each Tuesday
and Thursday nights after supper.
Sarah Lewis, sports councillor, is
busy getting girls interested in play
ing horse shoes since we have new
pegs and a place fixed up to play
We're very glad to have the volley
ball net set up in the court so girls
can "get rid of that extra energy"
and have a good time doing it.
Mrs. Seowright was in Winona
hall for a health inspection Sunday
night. We are always glad when
Mrs. Seawright takes all that time to
see each of the girls, and can help
and advise us on health problems
Each senior councillor girl is tak
ing her turn at being matron this
month. It's quite a job assuming so
much responsibility but we all think
we are getting a lot of good training
and experience. We do know that
there is a lot of work to being a
matron with so many girls here.
WARNING: If you happen to hear
the "click, click" don't think someone
planted a time bomb near you—just
look around and you will probably
see a senior girl parading around
just "getting used to heels."—Elean
or Foster and Annfusia Kenezeroff,
Reporters.
McBRIDE HALL
Things at McBride are going along
on schedule with our movies, group
parties, Monday night house meet
ings and house officers' meetings.

MUSIC TO REMEMBER
Once again, as Chemawa bids
adieu to another graduating class,
the A Cappella Choir will be heard.
We shall not forget the beautiful
singing of the choir at Baccalaureate
services and Commencement pro
grams through the years. The songs
which have been sung will stay
with us forever.
We thank Mrs. Johannaber for di
recting students in this activity,
which calls forth their best in coop
eration and in talent.
The house officers worked out some
new daily check sheets.
Mrs. Seawright was at McBride for
a health inspection last Monday
night. She had a good report for
the girls.
McBride hall is proud of Frances
McGriff and her honors in the spell
ing contests.
During the Easter week-end, we
had a lot of visitors. The girl's par
ents who came are- Elsie Mcjoe's
mother and father, Rosalie Kentta's
parents, Caroline and Judy Millett's
parents, Jessie Hancorne, Sharon
Johns, Thamer Perry and Martha
Clark also had visitors during Easter.
Everyone is looking forward to
summer vacation. "Anything to get
out of school,” although some of the
girls hate to see this school year be
over. At McBride the little girls are
already asking when can they pack
their clothes. The matrons and the
older girls always help pack the
smaller girls clothes and check to
see that they have all of their cloth
ing so they will not forget and leave
some. In the evenings girls are run
ning back and forth to their friends
giving keep-sakes and all that so as
to remember each other.
The eighth graders at McBride
will be saying good-bye to McBride
for the last time and the matrons and
their younger friends.
It is nearly time for the school
days of 1951-52 to be over and we
McBride hall girls want to express
our thanks to our matrons—Mrs. Rei
fel, Mrs. Ott, Miss White and our
