McNARY HALL
"And the lights went out"— that
was the night of December 4th when
we had the big blow. It was really
a big night in McNary Hall—by the
way, Farrell; did you find your shoe
yet? Some of the boys could not
even find' their beds for they had
been moved in the dark.
Mr. Hudson, ' adviser, called a
meeting in the reading room and
then' things 'were quieter. Mitchell
and h is' band of sheep started up
in ' room 51; Mitchell and Frank
strumming on the guitars while Jim.
Coburn led the boys in singing. It
really sounded nice in the dark.
Many, of the radios were blown
out so the electricians gathered them
dll up and are having them repaired
in Salem,
About nine o’clock all were sleepy
so in spite of the blackout the boys
crawleld into bed and when they
awoke in the morning the transform
er had been repaired and all the
buildings had lights a g a in —Parker
Williamson.

SPORTS
Your cheer-leading gang is com
posed of members from the senior,
junior, sophomore and freshman
classes. Every member is new to
the experience of leading ' a . large
student body like' Chemawa.
Practice has been the main aim
of this group -and they even give
over their Sunday evenings for this.
At this year’s Jamboree our pep
squad looked as nice as we have
ever seen them'. White blouses and
dark skirts really made a good back
ground for our cheer-leaders. Cur
leaders were clad in red and white
skirts and sweaters—the girls wore
headbands and feathers. The boys
wore roaches.
The leading was peppy and' pre
cise but our team did not place in
the judging. With a year's experi
ence behind them they should go far
in the finals at next year's jamboree.

Ott and Miss ■ White. W e like our
matrons and help them all we can.
We were very sorry when we1 re
turned this year and found that Mrs.
Ashcutt was no longer to be our
matron, She. had resigned. We miss
her very much.
On alternate Monday nights we
have programs put on by different
groups, and movies on our 8mm
