The W inona Hall girls w ere very
sorry to h av e lost one- bf our M a­
trons, Mrs, Griffith, w ho is now a
m atron in Ignacio, Colorado. She is
with-M r. a n d Mrs. Poch a n d family.
M ost' o f ' the ■ older stu d en ts will re ­
m em ber them. She w as g ra n te d a

We

/W e h av e h a d our big electric corn
popper for ab o u t a month now an d
really have b een putting it to good
use. Each S atu rd ay the Unit that
loses the least points for th at w eek
receives a pop corn treat after the
movie. So fa r Units I, VII and: VIII
h av e w on the treat. C ongratulations
go-.to E leanor C h arley 's Unit I for
w inning two tim es so far. Hope to
see the d a y w hen the w hole building
will receive the treat. This could b e
done if everyone tried h ard to b e a
good citizen.

the gym a n d on N ovem ber 24 w e

A m ateur Show up in the “rec room."
If w e g et good enough w e m ight put
on a show for the w hole school.
Unit I, w ith E leanor C harley in
c h a rg e ,' a n d Unit VI, w ith Julia Sa-
kota in charge, h a v e put on their
show s a lre a d y a n d they really did
a good job. Unit I h a d a n “old fash­
io n ed school" skit w hich kept every­
one laughing, with N ettie Racine a s
"teacher," along w ith songs a n d
other num bers. Unit VI put on a
H allow e'en p la y w ith ghosts a n d
w itches which, in ste a d of scaring us,
m ad e us la u g h a n d h a v e a good
time. Indian dan cin g a n d solos with
g u ita r accom panim ent m ad e u p the
rest of the program . At th ese House.
M eetings w e h av e a short p e p m eet­
in g a t the en d a n d Miss Challis
talks to us a t the beginning.
The Units VI, V, a n d III h av e w on
the Unit A w ard trios - so far this
vear. W e hope thaf all the rest of the
Units will w in som etim e or another.
The Pep S g u ad h a s really b e e n
pu tting in a lot of practice getting
re a d v fo” the Jam boree. W ednesday
and. S u n d ay nights a re the scheduled
practices b u t thev seem to b e p ra c ­
ticing" for the "practices," judging
from the sounds w e h e a r com ing from
various parts of the dormitory. At
the cheer le a d e r try-ou+s. the- follow­
ing w ere selected a s cheer lead ers
for th is school year: E le-n o r C harley,
T ullnlah Ti’Iee, N ancv Sam uel, Mitsi
C harley. E dna Ironoipe, Sylvia W il­
liam s. The song le a d e rs selected
w ere Evelvn C am pbell, A lthea Stone,
a n d Loretta Broncho.
M c B ride hall
The McBride girls h a v e b e e n here
a b o u t three a n d a half m onths a l­
re a d y a n d w e a re all getting along
fine so far. In fact it is the b e st y e a r
só far, m any of the older girls say.
All the groups h av e now h a d a
turn a t’ putting on the program a t
our M onday night- house m eetings
so now w e a re going to h a v e an
A m ateur Hour program for a while.
Beverly Morin, McBride hall presi­
dent, will b e in. charge. The house
officers a re going to ask their teach ­
ers to come a n d visit us a t McBride
hall a n d ju d g e the program so the
girls w ho do the b e st c a n a e t prizes.

with the officer girls a n d w hen w e
h a d our m eeting on Nov.- 15 R egina

p ieces on the piano. Then w e all
sa n g w hile she played. W e enjoyed
it a n d w e hope she will p la y a g a in
for us.
W e a re h a p p y to report th a t the
rooms in McBride hall h a v e b e e n
new ly painted. The m ost p o p ular
room colors a re the pink a n d blue
ones a n d the chartreuse. W e w an t
all the girls to k eep them looking
c lean a n d nice. W e h a v e n e w col­
ored b e d sp re a d s too. The Home Ec
d epartm ent sa id th e y 'd m ake us new
curtains. W e will b e so g la d to g e t
them b e c a u se our w indow s a re now
b a re a n d they do not look very nice. .
O ur movie m achine w ouldn't work.-
G uess it just got tired arid broke
down. W e h a d to send it to b e fixed.
So w e didn't h av e our picture show s
in McBride, hall for 'se v e ra L ;w eeks
a n d w e m issed them ; Ib is b a c k now
a n d w e h a d ' two m ovies S u nday
night. Thev w ere "V enice, Italy," a
travel movie, a n d "H ealth Farm," a
cartoon. Thev w ere good. All the
airls a re g la d to h av e m ovies a t Mc­
Bride ag ain .

exciting gam es w ere played. At the
end of th e..seaso n Louis B elgarde's
team w as in the lead. The bovs

G rant, a n d Parker W illiam son. .

bones. G eorge fell a n d fractured his
w rist w h’le Parker hurt his ankle
during a b a sk e tb a ll practice.
