Mason-Chambers
O h the evening of November 22 at St. Michael’s
Church, Edward R. Mason and Hazel Chambers
were united in marriage. They were attended by
Mr. Clingenpeel and Mrs. Brannon. A reception at
Kola Tepee followed. Both bride and groom are
well known here, Mrs. Mason as teacher in the grade
school and Mr. Mason as head of carpentry. They
are at home at their cottage on the east campus.
The entire staff and student body join in wishing
happiness, long life, and prosperity to the Masons.
Young Campus Couples Married
Miss Pita Cajete, Cheinawa nurse, and Mr. Paul
Tieceahkit, Lawton, Oklahoma, were married in
Portland on Monday, December 11. Mr. Tieceahkit
is at present employed in Portland. All our good
wishes to these good friends.
Robert C. Sanders, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben
Sanders, and Faye Shirley Plenge of Salem were
married at St. Vincent’s Chapel on October 21. A
wedding dinner at The Spa followed the ceremony.
They are now residing at 2417 Center Street, Sal­
em. Happiness to you both.
Employees Party
The advisory group, the engineers, and the home
economics department were hosts at a party in the
gymnasium on December 7. Dancing was enjoyed
to the music of a three piece orchestra. The gym­
nasium was arranged in the atmosphere of a living
room. Refreshments of coffee and cake were served.

Cpl. Walter Snapps writes to us from New Guinea.
Cpl. Ralph Foster is with our armed forces in Italy.
Pvt. Justin Wilson is now on duty in the South Pa­
cific area.
Harland Murphy, seaman second class, is on Pa­
cific duty now.
Wilford Teton, class of '42, is serving with the
Army in France.
Pvt. James LaRance, USMC, is somewhere in
the South Pacific area.
George Walters is now in South Camp Hood,
Texas, training for the Army.
Richard Larsen is now about to finish his “boot
training” at Farragut in Idaho.
Pvt. Cecelia SoHappy is a member of the Wacs,
and is stationed in Spokane, Washington.
Florestine Peltier was visiting Chemawa Decem­
ber 28 anti 29. She is a Wac, studying to be an
X-ray technician.
Arnold Davis, seaman second class, has been
training in San Pedro, California. Arnold visited our
campus in September.
Ben Bearchum was wounded in action and has
returned to the U. S. to recuperate. He is at Camp
Wright in Washington.
Herbert Bennett is now located at Camp San Luis
Obispo, California. He has completed a training
period of amphibious training.
Pfc. Carl Wood, class of ’42, was wounded some
time ago in the battle for France. He is now re­
covering in a hospital in England,
Matthew Stopps and Willie Mount, former stu­
dents of Chemawa, former members of the class of
’45, are now’ serving in the U. S. Navy in the
South Pacific.
Louis Beaudry Killed In Action
Christmas Seal Sales
Cheinawa bought $50 worth of Christmas seals.
The response was very satisfying, from kinder­
garten through the high school and the employees.
Each class was active on sales until there were
no more to buy.
Pfc. Louis N. Beaudry, USMC, of Glasgow, Mon­
tana, has been killed inaction in the Pacific, accord­
ing to word received by his father, Alfred Beaudry.
Louis was a member of “Carlson’s Raiders” and
had taken part in numerous engagements, including
those at Saipan and in the Marianas. Private Beaudry’
