Suppah are learning the art of housekeeping in the
Practice House now . They followed Ruth Danzuka
and Jean Scott who had been training there for 4
weeks.
We extern1 our heartfelt sympathy to the family
of Mr. W. B. Totten for the death of his father.
With the Colors
Sgt. Fred Motschman, class ‘33, served with the
205 C. A. in the Aleutians, and then was in active
service in the South Pacific. Fred has received an
honorable discharge from the Army and may work
in Portland.
Pfc. Peter II. Hauser, U. S. M.C, has been in the
Southern Pacific area for more than a year. First
Sergeant Emil W. Hauser, U.S. M.C, is stationed in
Hawaii. Emil and Peter are sons of Mrs. Dollie
Hauser.
Pfc. Herbert Bennett is at Camp Hood, Texas
with a tank destroyer unit.
Ernest Spencer, fireman third-class, woidd like to
hear from his friends. His address is U. S. S. Ander­
son 411, care of Fleet Postmaster, San Francisco,
California.
Pvt. Donah! Williams is with the Infantry at
Camp Adair, Oiegon.
Lt. Elinor Warner, former nurse of Chemawa
Hospital, is with the Army Nurse Corps at Camp
Haan, California.
Sophie Thadie and Donna Mae Courville are now
members of the Spars. Sophie is training in Florida,
and Donna Mae is also on the east coast.
Chemawa is keeping pace with the rest of the
country by having flu. A party for employees on
Dec. 15 was post-poned for awhile, as was the bene­
fit dance sponsored by the Dramatic club for the
evening of Dec. 17.
Chemawa’s fire fighting department has been re­
organized.
The farmers and agricultural students have started
spraying the orchards.
Miss Nora Grissom, primary grade teacher here
last year, is now located at Sacaton, Arizona.
Miss Margaret Harris, Protestant religious work­
er is now working at Stony Brook on Long Island,
New' York.
Dr. Esther Morse, sister of Miss Ruth Evelyn
Morse, visited Chemawa the first week in Septem­
ber. She was preparing to return to her medical work
in China as soon as transportation was available.
Dr. Ruth Jens was on official duty at Haskell In­
stitute during the summer school there. She is now
doing post-graduate study on childhood diseases at
Babies Hospital, Philadelphia.
House Councils
Ray Bennett, member of the senior class, is now
in the Navy, and is located at Farragut, Idaho.
The members of the Winona house council this
year are: Freshmen, Elsie Cooper; sophomore Vir­
ginia Taylor and Leona Bell: junior, Daisy Pete
and Marceil Tom; and senior, Chris Williams.
They have been helping Miss Semanski take care
of different jobs in the building, and helping with
the little girls.
The McNary hall house council is organized in
the form of a court. Offenders are brought to trial
before this court. The officers are: Judge, George
Walters; vice judge, Arnold Davis; secretary-treas­
urer, Richard Larsen; sergeant-at-arms, James La
Rance.
The jury consists of five boys: Louis Quiemots,
Eugene Hoffer, Merle Williams, Earl Davis, and
Glenn Fritzler.
Sgt. Ray D. Schienost is now located in North
Africa, near Algiers. He is in the Air Corps. His
address is: Sgt. Ray D. Scheinost, 37128122, 347
Fighter Squadron, 350 Fi. Group, A. P. (). 525,
care of Postmaster, New York City.

Kenneth Frank, a former Chemawa student, visited
friends here recently. He is now a shipyard worker
at Vancouver, Washington.
