Chemawa Still Leads Big Nine

Playing in a mud covered field, Friday Oct.
31, the Chemawa Redskins and the Silverton
Silver Foxes fought to a scoreless tie. Both teams
displayed a lot of power but they just couldn’t
score when the opportunity presented itself. Twice
the Braves were deep into Silverton territory but
the Silver Foxes became stubborn and the Red
skins just couldn’t push the ball over the final
marker.
In the second quarter, however, Rice shook
himself loose from his own 35 yard line and ran
65 yards to a touchdown but the score was nuli-

The tie didn’t effect the league standings, now-
ever, the Redskins are still on top.
Canby High Drubbed 24-0
Led by Harold Joseph, the Chemawa Braves
smashed to a decisive 25 to 0 win over the Canby
Rams on Friday, Oct. 24.
The Braves scored in the first period when
Joseph climaxed a 65 yard sustained drive with
a run over his right guard for the initial tally.
His attempted conversion was wide, low and
wobbly.
In the second quarter Joseph scored on a run
ning play from the two yard marker. Saluskin
added the extra point with a run through left
tackle.
In the second half the Reds started where
they left off. After a series of runs and passes,
led by Saluskin, the Braves again marched down
to the Canby four yard line. It was from there
that George Rice took the ball directly through
center and went over standing up. Louie Beau
dry’s attempted drive through his guard post
failed.
In the fourth and final period the Bravesagain
drove deep into Canby territory. From the four
yard line Joseph scored his third and final touch
down of the day. His try for extra point failed
and the final score, Chemawa 25, Canby 0.
Papooses Victorious
The Chemawa “B” team has won three games
this year, in as many contests.
Their initial game was against Salem, when
they defeated the Viking Babes, under the lights,
26 to 0.
Then their next game was against Silverton.
The Silver Foxes didn’t have a chance and the
visitors walked off the field under a stinging 39 to
0 defeat.
Monday, Nov. 2, the Dallas Juniors went down
in the onslaught of the Papoose squad. Led by
Henry Courville, Chemawa came out on the long
end of a 30 to 0 score.

Hi-Y Members Entertain
The members of the Hi-Y entertained their girl
friends at a party given in their club room last
Saturday night, November 1. It was an escort
affair so after all the couples had arrived the
party was started with a bang by playing an ex
citing game.
Later in the evening, after tiring of games,
the group was entertained with a short program.
The most outstanding number was a jig given in
“Montanastyle” by Horace “Bob Hope” Small.
