horses age, drive teams, wash and grease a wa
gon, keep the harness room in order, and “ bit
break” a horse.
In each of their written reports, the boy
volunteered this statement. “ I am willing to do
anything you want me to do.” No wonder
this is a good club!
The boys in this 4-H agricultural club are being
very ably directed by Mr. Frank Lane and Mr.
Claude Loveall. In speaking of the boys work
Mr. Lane said, “ These boys are really ambitious
and interested in their work. They are fine fel
lows to work with and are always on tim e.” Mr.
Loveall said, “ the boys are anxious to learn all
they can, although the weather interferes with
their outside activités, they think of valuable act
ivities in and about the barn. They are very in
terested and w illing.”
M eetings
A joint meeting is being arranged for the very
near future. It is planned to have as guests and
speakers at this meeting our County club leader
Wayne D. Harding of Salem and Robert Zelin-
ski of Quinaby. Robert is one of America’s out
standing and most successful club boys. He has
spent a great many years in club work and has
won national fame. During his career as a 4-H
club member he has won many local, state and
national honors. It will be an honor as well as a
privilege for the boys and girls of Chemawa to
meet this young man and hear of bis experiences
and successes in club work. Robert is one of the
outstanding experts in the field of swine breeding
S e n F in ley, 4 -H Clubber, sh oeing a horse
in Oregon. The meeting will be held in the A ud
itorium in the near future.
A series of round table discussion meetings are
also being planned as a regular activity for the
boys. It is planned to have the boys take charge
of these meetings and lead in the discussion of the
various phrases and problems of 4-H club work.
Indications now are that Chemawa Indian boys
and girls will have some of the most outstanding
exhibits at the State Fair next fall and no doubt
some of Oregon’s champion 4-H clubbers this year
will come from Chemawa.
