On March 28th a group of our talented boys performed
with Indian songs and dances at the Hollywood
Theater in Salem. Mr. Rickard, boys’ adviser, ac
companied the troupe and declares the program was
well received by the audience.
Chemawa’s newest employee is Miss Evelyn George
who has taken the position as stenographer to Mr.
Larsen. Miss George is a graduate of the North Kitsap
High school at Poulsbo, Washington, where she com
pleted her commercial course, and was taking some
review and advanced work at Chemawa in order to
secure employment.
The younger set of Chemawa and the surrounding
community were invited to a party celebrating the
birthday of Grace Hudson, young daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Hudson, last week. About 25 youngters were
present and all must have enjoyed themselves for laugh
ter and shouts were deafening. Cake and coffee was
done away with no mercy whatsoever.
Friends of Helen Shaughnessy will be glad to know
that she is successfully completing her senior year at
the Vancouver High School.
Mr. and Mrs. Burney Wilson of Klamath Agency,
Oregon, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lar
sen. Mr. Wilson is a ex-Chemawa student.
Supt. and Mrs. Ryan spent the week-end at Siletz
where the Indians were voting on the Wheeler-Howard
Act. At Grand Ronde Mr. Larsen was in charge.
Lewis Pitt, Warren Wilder and brother, Harry,
visited friends at the School on Friday of last week.
All are former students prospering in the world.
