TREBLE CLEF CLUB
The last meeting of the girls’ music club proved an
interesting and entertaining one. Part of the musical
program was contributed by Mrs. I. C. Berg of Seattle,
Wash., who is an artist in her line of work.
In addition to the music rendered a lecture was given
by Mr. Ruthyn Turney—biographical and historical:
“Mozart” providing the main topic.
Y. M. C. A
We have been doing our share in preparation to
observe the coming Christmas.
On December 9, a very interesting meeting was
held. Our theme being “What Christmas means to
us today.” Various members gave their point of view
on the question. Treasurer Eblyn Weeks and athletic
manager Wallace Zundle, gave their reports. The
boys drew names of Y. W. girls to whom they are to
give Christmas presents at the party to be held De
cember 21, we expect this to be one of our best parties.
On December 16, the Y. M. and Y. W. held a joint
meeting.
A group from Woodburn, Oregon enter
tained us with a play entitled, “Candle Sticks.” It
was an excellent play and members enjoyed it immen
sely. We wish to extend our thankfulness for the
great favor rendered to us by the cast in the play.
TRADES
COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT
The senior and junior commercial held a meeting
December 13. The main object of the meeting was
to elect a manager and captain for our basketball team.
Laura Walters was elected manager and Evelyn Stiff
arm was elected captain. It hasn't been decided who
will be on the team but we are in high spirits and ex
pect to put on a good showing.
We seniors wish to express our gratitude to the
juniors for being so considerate during Miss Hoffman’s
absence. We are sure that she will feel proud of us
all for being such good students. She will, no doubt,
be surprised when she learns how much work we have
accomplished.

BEAUTY
cake, sandwiches, jello with whipped cream and cocoa
with marshmallows, were served at the close of the
dance. During the intermission a short program was
given.

HOME ECONOMICS
The senior home economics girls have chosen Gladys
Majhor as their captain for the coming holiday events.
The junior cooking girls have chosen Madeline Skin
ner as their captain.
The two groups of junior cooking girls are giving
a tea around the 18th or 20th of December. They are
inviting guests and are planning on some good enter
tainment. Then we expect that most everyone will
be taking time out for the Christmas vacation.
We are getting along splendidly and no doubt will
become good cooks in a short time.
The senior meal planning girls entertained all the
boys from the shops who helped to repair Hawley
hall the past fall.
A Christmas holiday dinner was
served them last night which was a treat indeed.

HOSPITAL NOTES
The nurses had a meeting on Thursday of last week
for the purpose of electing a basketball captain. Mary
Bowchop has gained the honor to captain our tape pull
ers, “ouch.”
A farewrell party was given Mrs. Hankins who has
transferred to Warmsprings, Ore. We hate to lose
her and we wish her an abundance of happiness in her
new work. Our new nurse, Miss Scholes, seems to
enjoy the work here.
WEDDING
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Larsen was
the scene of a wedding last Saturday. The marriage
of Miss Dolly Loughrey, a sister of Mrs. Larsen, and
Lewis Bayne was solemnized.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, Mr.
E. A. Loughrey, who came from Indianola Beach,
Wash, along with his wife and two daughters Rose and
Mary Ann to witness the matrimony. Approximately
45 guests were in attendance. Mrs. Lewis Bayne
thanks everyone heartily for all the gifts she has re
ceived from Chemawa friends.
PARLOR
Miss Marie Farron is going to be with us for a short
period to brush-up on the light intricacies of the trade
in preparatory for the state examinations in January.
The beauty shop girls and their invited guests had a
jolly-time at a party which was given in honor for
the girls that are to graduate in January.
Tasty refreshments which consisted of two kinds of
McNARY HALL
The boys in McNary Hall are planning a hectic pro
gram on Christmas Eve.
With the cooperation of the boys Mr. Larnard has
worked up a schedule for the coming holiday sporting
events. With the reaction he has been getting it will,
no doubt, be a success.
