WHAT’S THISP
On Monday evening, November 5th, the post grad
uate, college and office girls organized a club which
has not yet been officially named. Itwill be decided at
the next meeting and the purpose of the club is to pro
vide social activities for this group.
The following officers were elected: Alice Cross,
president; Williamette Blakeslee, vice-president; Essie
Bedard, secretary and treasurer; Donna Mae Lafonso,
sergeant-at-arms; Hazel Finkbonner, reporter; other
members are: Vera Rogers, Savanah Sweeney, Anna
Washbrekoff, Mary Hauser, Mary lyall, Margie Law,
Nellie Summers, Bessie Brown, Muriel Pratt and
Evelyn George. Mr. Victor Johnson will sponsor the
club.
We suggest the boys should organize a similar club.
BOYS’ MUSIC CLUB
Due to the many activities taking place at the be-
gining of school this club was slow in organizing.
However, we hope to make up for lost time. A meet
ing was called on November 4th, to elect officers.
The following were elected: James Dupuis, president;
Dan Motanic, vice president; Francis Thomas, sec
retary; Louis Orr, treasurer; Matt Adams, sergeant-at-
arms.
The meeting was presided over by the pres

ident and a discussion was held. The main question
brought up was how we were to know the boys that
joined had musical ability. It shall be determined at
the next meeting for all the new members are to do
their stunts. A committee of four has been chosen
by the president to pass judgment on the new members.
A constitution has been drawn up and it shall be read
at the next meeting.
Y. M. AND Y W. 0. A.
After chapel on Sunday, Oct. 28, the Y. M. C. A.
and Y. W. C. A. held their first joint meeting of the
year. A program composed of both boys and girls
took the place of regular discussion. It consisted of:
Welcome talks by Sam Scott, presiding officer and
president of the Y. M. and Naomi Mesplie, president
of the Y. W.; piano solo by Elsie Smith; vocal solo by
Lulu McMorris; talk on the origin and meaning of
Hallowee’n by Naomi Mesplie; saxophone duet by
Eblyn Weeks and Willis Miller; piano solo by Naomi
Mesplie; vocal solo by James Rosario. Members and
guests, numbering nearly 70, were present.
LITTLE FLOWER SOCIETY
The Little Flower Society and Catholic Boy’s As
sociation held a joint meeting on Tuesday, October 30.
A most enjoyable time wras had by all, with dancing,
games and refreshments. We look forward to these
meetings which are held once every month.
STUDENT COUNCIL
Now that the boys and girls have selected their coun
cils they should make use of them. Take to your
council members problems of the school so that they
may be cleared up to the satisfaction of all. If there
is something you wish to see done that will improve
Chemawa and be of benefit to all other students then
state your ideas to a member of your council. In this
way matters can be cleared up more quickly and in a
businesslike manner. Also, this is your chance to
voice your opinions and ideas. This school is not per
fect, wre all know that, and if there is anything you
can suggest to help in the student government then
you should, by all means, do so.
MUSIC CLUB
The Treble Clef Club held their regular meeting in
the music room October 11th. A short program was
rendered by a few members.
Our next meeting will be held November 8. Mr.
Turney will give an appreciation lesson on the life of
Schubert.
TRADES
Edward Franklin will graduate from the barber shop
the 10th of this month. Melvin LaCourse will take
his place.

We are kept busy repairing shoes for the student body.
The number of shoes repaired during the month of
October, reaches the astonishing number of 295. We
hope to do more in the near future.

We are presiding at the practice house now, Marse
illes St. Martin, Margaret Blodgett, Rita James and.
Brenda Booth.
We have done a good deal of work and enjoy very
much the privilege of staying here.
Last Sunday we had Mr. and Mrs. Melovidoff over
for dinner. Friday evening we had Misses Peters and
Semanski over for a dinner.
The girls have adopted a cat and will appreciate any
suggestion you may care to send in for a name
A farewell party was held in honor of Mr. and Mrs.
Shilling last Tuesday, October 30, at the practice
house.
The evening was spent playing a game in
which the object was to make as many names as you
could from the word “spaghetti” and the name had
to be names pertaining to things that the Shillings
would see on their trip to Dakota. The prize for the
