CHEMAWA WINS FROM LINCOLN, 7-0
On Friday evening, Sept. 16, 1932, under arc lights,
Chemawa played her first football game of the season
in Multnomah Stadium against Lincoln’s “biggest
team.” If that was Lincoln’s largest team in her
history we hope they keep on getting heavier for the
braves certainly pushed them all over the field.
Penalties played a great part in keeping down the
score as well as did the four or five fumbles. Chema
wa made a total of twelve first downs to Lincoln’s
three.
Every player on Chemawa’s squad saw action, thus
there were no injuries.
The high light of the game was a series of plays
which resulted in a touchdown. Chemawa received
the ball on her own 35 yard line and in five plays had
a touchdown. One of those plays was the “old lay
out pass” that Vivette caught and which made about
40 yards.
On one occasion during the first half the ball rested
on the 4 inch line when the gun went off for time.
No games were played during the past week-end
because of several cases of the “flu.” There will in
all probability be a game on Sept. 30th if conditions
improve. The opponent is not definitely known.
ATHLETIC BUSS
The football team traveled to Portland, and got all
the way back in the athletic department’s new bus.
This bus will pay for itself this year from the money
that is ordinarily paid out for transportation for the
various teams. The bus has been reconditioned and it
is hoped that with the use it will receive from the teams,
it and the tires will last for the entire year.
The bus will be painted and there will be baggage
racks put in by Mr. Berry and his able assistant, Du
mont.
SENIOR NOTES
Rah! The Senior Class has how reached the mag
nificent number of sixty pupils, consisting of thirty
boys and thirty girls. What a break for vs! The
class consists of all old students except for Oma Wood
cock, Lawrence Horn and Nelson Porter.
We held our first class meeting of the year on Mon
day evening, Sept. 19, in room 10, for the election of
officers which resulted as follows:

We all sincerely hope that our class will have the
name of being the largest graduating class in the his
tory of Chemawa. So come on you Seniors! Live up
to our motto, “Success.”
Our labratory in chemistry has been remodeled and
we now have a new stock of equipment, thanks to
Mr. Rainey.
Our class has certainly returned full of ambition and
vigor, and we all sincerly hope that everyone keepsit
up. We have thirteen of the senior girls now taking
nursing under the Red Cross and each one expects to
earn a diploma.
AUTO MECHANICS
Prosperity may be just around the corner but success
is already here for the auto mechanics.
Hamilton Green and Leo Hunter recently completed
two brake equalizing jobs which were tested on brake
testing machines at Salem and found one-hundred per
cent perfect.
Eddie Abieta relined the brakes and aligned the
front wheels of a Whippet. Both jobs were tested and
found to be perfect. By the way, Eddie is now driving
a truck for the state highway department.
Leo Cottonior recently returned from a similar job
with the highway department.
Walter Majhor and Walter LaPlant have completed
an overhauling job on one of the government Fords
which would do credit to any professional mechanic.
Stanford Solomon and Larry White overhauled the
front end of the school bus and installed a new fly
wheel, doing a class of work that any shop could be
proud of.
These boys all began at the bottom of the ladder last
year and are now well on their way to acquiring profes
sional skill in their chosen trade.
