him for his wonderful address. Mrs. Montana Olson
of Browning, Montana, was present and appeared as
a vocalist on our program, giving pleasure to all with
her artistry. Other high lights of the evening was the
reading by Warren Wilder of a letter addressed to the
class by Supt. Lipps, now of Sacramento (California)
Indian Agency, and a telegram sent to the class by
Mr. H. A. Kunkel, our former bandmaster who is now
in the service at the Phoenix school, Arizona. Both
the letter and the telegram were loudly applauded by
the audience. Lack of space forbids further details of
the exercises. Aside from the above notes on the pro

JOLLY-UP RESULTS
Following the custom of many years our entire stu
dent body assembled in the auditorium on Monday to
participate in the annual “Jolly-Up” at which time
the prizes won for outstanding work in the many ac
tivities in our school life were awarded. Needless to
say that the work of our students offered several can
didates for each prize, yet the awards as they were
made met the hearty approval of all. The prize list

Mr. Silas Moon was a recent visitor at the school.
The thermometer registered 91 in this section last
Friday. Form your own conclusions!
Mr. Carl W. Turner has gone to Missouri, his old
home, to visit and attend summer school.
Our people enjoyed a movie last Friday evening. The
title of the picture was “The Flying Fool.”
Quite a number of our people are frequenting Spong’s
Landing on the banks of the Willamette river on warm
evenings, bathing being the great attraction.
The Sunday edition of The Statesman carried the
picture of Mr. Melovidoff and a fine lengthy write-up
of his travels and musical experiences.
William and Eustice Markishtum arrived here last
Sunday from their home in Neah Bay, Wash. They
came down to take their sister, Eleanor, and brother,
Luke, home for the summer vacation.
The academic teachers enjoyed their annual picnic
at Silverton Park on Thursday afternoon of last week.
All teachers were given an invitation. Mrs. Lipps and
Dr. Sisco accompanied the party as specially invited
guests. A fine basket luncheon came in just right at
the psychological moment.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sandberg came up from Reeds
port, Oregon, to attend our closing exercises and see
Fred Jr. receive his diploma. Next year they will
again be here, this time to see Everett graduate.
Recently there was a joint meeting of the Y. M. and
Y. W. organizations—the last meeting of this kind for
the year. The seniors had charge of the program—
Frank Johnson presiding. Joe White sang a solo and
the boys of the quartet contributed a couple of vocal
numbers.
