W e’re glad to see our girls back after a few days
in the hospital.
T h e E n terp rise Society held th e ir first m eeting in
room 6. T he evening was devoted to the election of
officers. T he follow ing was the result: P resident, B er
th a L,ee; vice-president, Josephine W eaver; secretary,
L ena Swan; treasu rer, E va C opeland; reporter, E d n a
D ahlgren; sergeant-at arm s, G race W heeler; cheer
leader, A ngela M onroe.
T h e E n terp rise held th eir reg u lar m eeting in room
6, N ovem ber 3rd, 1922. T h e house wras called to
order by the president and after roll call, a short p ro
gram was given. O ur visitors for th e evening w ere
F ra n k S. Jam es, Jesse M organ, F ra n k B uike and E lm er
F lu re y . Mrs. Iliff gave us an encouraging talk, and
after a few songs and yells we adjourned.
W e have done little needlew ork for our d ep artm en t
recen tly as w e’ve been so busy w ith other th in g s.

W e are hoping ev e ry th in g in our new d ep a rtm en t
will be com pleted w hen we com e again, the Seniors say ,
“ for the last tim e .”
T h ree of our Ju n io r girls have been confined to the
hospital for a few days. W e’ll all be glad to see them
back at th e ir places.
Supt. and Mrs. H all dined w ith the Seniors re c e n tly .
J u s t a little home d in n er. W e surely enjoyed h aving
them . T h e girls were all “ sm ile s.”
W e have been review ing seventh grade work for the
benefit of o u r new girls. W e find it helpful to all, as
we som etim es grow careless w hen it comes to order
and system .
A house for wood and
coal is one of the needed
th in g s being placed for our use. W e’ll be glad to use
all these new th in g s wffien we retu rn to the Dom estic
Science n ex t sem ester.
O ur Ju n io r class served a 12 o ’clock luncheon to
C ongressm an H aw ley and p arty on F riday. W e are
alw ays happy to do such th in g s and it adds m uch to
our ability to do th in g s.
O ur new steam table will be of g reat service to us
in serving ball team s and for large affairs in our de
p artm e n t. W e th in k w e’re to have a gam e th is week.
A nyw ay our “ m e n u ” is ready.
C arpenters are m aking stu d y tables for M cBride H all.
T h e painters have been very busy lately w ith broken
glass and w ith th e finishing of tables for the Dom estic
Science, w hich are now ready for delivery.
T h e m asons and carpenters have moved the old isola
tion ward back of the hospital over to th e rear of the
Dom estic Science, w here it will be used for a coal
house.
T he m asons are rep airin g the oil tank today and will
have it ready for m ore oil, w hich we are ex p ectin g .
T h e m anholes built at several points on the grounds bv
th e m asons are a credit to them .
T h e engineers and plum bers are still very busy w ith
the heating system . R e g u latin g valves, stopping leaks
in old radiators and ta k in g care of th e num erous tr o u
bles in cid en t to sta rtin g a new system .
T h e lam p shafts m ade by G eorge P hinney are fine
exam ples of good w orkm anship. M yrtle is a beautiful
wood w hen properly w orked and polished and the job
is a credit to the young m an and th e dep artm en t.
A new line has to be laid from th e school building
to the library, as th e old line has given out. T his is
an o th er job th at will be com pleted as soon as possible.
T h e garden detail is still d ig g in g potatoes, but they
are nearly done now as th e re are only a few m ore rows
of the patch not d u g .
T h e p ainters are busy giving a m uch-needed coat to
th e old p art of the Dom estic Science kitchen. W e very
m uch appreciate it and are glad to have it done before
th e large class com es in next week.
Before long we sh ill a g iin re ic h the day set aside
for the consider.ition of o u r m any blessings—T h a n k s
giving.
Few of us, indeed, w ho are so poor th at we
have n o th in g to be th a n k fu l for; try to bear this in
m ind at all tim es.
Both classes in Domestic Science are try in g to finish
up th e ir w ork, as th is is the last week for th is sem es
te r. T h e seniors have figured long and faithfully on
calories, b u t the re su lt is usually “ ap p ro x im a te .” H u
m an “ b e in ’s ” differ so.
Fred C ardin, violinist, and W illie R eddie, cellist,
who were m em bers of th e In d ian S trin g Q uartet sent
o u t from C hem aw a several years ago, are soon to tour
the N orthw est w ith a concert com pany, in which they
are sta rrin g , and intend to pay us a visit.
