T he carpenters will soon have th e brooder house u n

Some nice coach cushions are being m ade by the

Boys, are you “ on the job?”
A re you one of the
k ind th a t the boss can depend on? Do vou expect to
w ork for wages? Can you hold a job and w atch th e
clock at the sam e time? Can you leave your w ork
an d look out the w indow and expect to get as much
done as you would get done if you let the tim e and the
th in g s outside tak e care of them selves? “ T h ere is no
sen tim en t in b u sin e ss.” T h e average em ployer does
not care p artic u larly who you are, w here you cam e
from , or how m uch you th in k you know . H is view
is largely: Can he do the work? Does he stav at his
job? Is he m aking m oney for me? T h is school is the
place to get the “ ste a d y ” habit. T h in k it over.

O u r heavy h itte rs and S outhpaw Bettles were too
m uch for th e P. C. nine to handle, so o u r team cam e
hom e last F rid a y w ith the long end of the 9 to 4 score.
It was easy to guess who won the gam e by the sin g
in g and y elling o f the players as they drove up to th e
fro n t en tran ce.
Percy M arlow , ou r foxy first basem an, clouted th e
ball for th ree bases th e first tim e to bat and for two
the second.
Triple and tw o-base h its were p len tifu l
and even N uckolls drove one over left field for the
first hom e ru n of th e season, w ith tw o men on bases.
B ettles sent their batters back to the bench alm ost at
will and enco u n tered no difficulty in whiffing th ree

N ew berg sp ectators and a few took m uch d elight in
rem in d in g th e boys they defeated us once about four
years ago.
