two gam es at C orvallis and finished each contest with
th e sm all end of the score.
O n F riday ev ening th e A ggies passed th e ball and
threw baskets alm o st at will w hile our m en, as it a p
peared, could only m ake a feeble defense. T h is was
all on account of g o in g in to th e gam e w ith overloaded
stom achs, w hich kept the men d u ll and dead on th eir
feet T h e gam e ended 31 to 18 in favor of tlie A ggies.
On S atu rd ay evening our team gave a b etter d em on
stratio n of w hat they really could do. From th e o u t
set this gam e prom ised to be th e snappiest and the
hardest gam e th e A ggies ever experienced on the
hom e floor, and it was. In appearance it was an e n
tirely different team th at took the floor th e second
nig h t for Chem aw a.
O u r varsity regained th a t old fight and pep it
possessed before the holidays and by q u ick , ste ad y
passing and shooting we nosed ont ahead in the first
half 11 to 10.
T h e second half was a repetition of w hat happened
in the first, each m an going the lim it and th e team s
ex ch an g in g baskets till th e last 40 seconds, when
Coach R u th e rfo rd called a h alt to give his men
counsel w ith th e score 25 to 23 in our favor. F o rty
seconds is not a very long period and sh o rtly after th e
gam e sta rted ag ain , Sam pson, our tim er, cam e near
going ’round and round w ith the O A .C. tim er who
held the g un and would not shoot. T h e w riter will
let the le a d e r guess w hy. H ow ever, S tin so n , the
crack A ggie forw ard, grabbed th e ball and am id the
sh o u tin g of the sp ectato rs to shoot, threw th e ball
from alm ost th e cen ter of the floor. W hile the ball
was trav elin g th ro u g h the air, bang, off w ent th e gun
and the ball hit in th e n et, ty in g th e gam e 25 to 25.
D uring th e five m inutes of overtim e play the A ggies
m ade one field goal and converted one foul, en d in g

as the w ell-balanced m enu so palatably cooked. W e
