R eliance
A t the reg u lar m eeting of the R eliance Society on
F riday evening the follow ing program was rendered:

A fter our advisory m em ber, Miss M cDowell, gave her

E xcelsior
T h e reg u lar m eeting of th e E xcelsior society opened
F riday evening w ith P re sid en t F an n in th e ch air.
Some im p o rtan t business was tran sacted , after w hich
th e society opened th e program . P eter R asm ussen
gave a recitation and R eginald Dow nie a stu m p speech.
G eorge Eekanoff and G eorge B arrett rendered a vocal
duet, after which we had a debate, “ Resolved, T h at
all Boys Should S tu d y Domestic Science. ” Lloyd
T illotson and Joseph Bonner represented the affirm a­
tive side and G eorge C hya and Jesse M organ the
negative. Miss H en d rix , advisory m em ber, presented
her report and th e society ad journed w ith society songs
and yells.
W inona
An opening song by C ath erin e L am b ert, M aude
H eay, Ram ona T rip p and A nna Belgarde was so well
done th at the g irls were forced to respond to an
encore. Jessie C leveland’s recitation was well chosen
and L illian G au th ier and Rose G ray gave a b rig h t
little com edy. T h e hum o r-sto ries were supplied by
Am elia L adderoute: A nnabelle W oods and H en rietta
C ham berlin sang some popular ballads and H attie
M attin gave a talk in an original way. V eltha F razier
had the im prom ptu speech. A prophecy by A n n a
H o st was one of th e best num bers of th e evening.
A fter a quick business m eeting and a song session th e
society adjourned.
SE N IO R NOTES
I t is rum ored th at in a recent try -o u t Tacom a S nyder
was a cham pion speller.
A ’21 cap has w andered aw ay. I t was last seen at
the g irls ’ gym class. It is understood the Physical
D irector is looking for it.
T h e g irls of ’21 are becom ing very faithful to gym
class. T h e reason is: No gym , no credit; no credit,
no g ra d u a te — so it is said.
T h e C lass of ’21 gave W illiam F razier a small e n ­
graved medal as an appreciation of the honor he won
for th e class last year in declam ation.
The second sem ester is not far off! W e know , for
w e’ve com pleted our physiology and are beginning
review , and th a t m eans sem ester exam s.
T h e Senior cheer-leader has been overw orked so
th a t she had to have th ro at treatm en t last w eek, but
she is expected to be back in fine voice by n ex t m eet­
in g .
T h is week the girls who have had such a splendid
term in th e dom estic science are beginning work in
th e dom estic arts. T hey are looking for a splendid
period in sew ing also.
DOMESTIC SCIENCE NOTES
T acom a S nyder is cook th is wreek and is serving
som e very appetizing m eals.
T h e h ig h school lunches are prepared by Ellen Beall,
w ho is ta k in g m uch in terest in th e ir preparation.

an d E llen Beall w ere honor stu d e n ts in th e dom estic
science last sem ester.
W e wish to th a n k th e boys and g irls who attended
the d in n ers at the dom estic science, thereby helping
to m ake im provem ents in th a t departm ent. T he fol­
low ing m enu was served: T om ato soup, salted w afers,
steak , mashed potatoes, gravy, strin g beans, fru it
salad, salted nu ts, chow chow , tom ato relish, straw ­
berry preserves, straw b erry sundae, and cake.
L ucy C raig arrived from C ordova, A laska, to attend
school here. She is a half sister of A nna M iller.
