T h e class of ’20 are now eagerly aw aiting T h a n k s
g iv in g Day. Do you know why?
T h e Senior G irls’ Q u artet gave a p articu larly p leas
ing encore num ber on last class program .
T h e Seniors all agree th a t G u s G artiez is a su re
enough “ liv e-w ire.” Ju st w atch “ M o to rm an ” play
fo o tb all.
M arina N elson lost her voice for a day or two last
week and w ent to th e hospital till she found it. T h at
show s how im p o rtan t a p art of M arina her voice is.
All the Senior football m en have gained several
pounds since A nnie M iller has been detailed as tra in
in g table cook. W h at is m ore, A nnie has gained,
too.
M r. Devol, our p rin cip al, m ade the Senior room a
visit on T h u rsd ay and we read a dozen or more of o u r
them es to him and he listened very atten tiv ely ; then
we grew bolder and san g a class song to him , and
end of the room is reserved for th e service flag and
th e p ictu res sent by our boys in the service; this is
called “ O ur W ar D e p a rtm e n t.” T h e other end of
the room bears th e p en n a n t, and a flock of bluebirds
and stream ers are used plentifully overhead.

T h e A pple Blossom G ro u p en tertain ed in the W in-
ona Society hall last F rid a y evening. Th< visitors
saw’ first on entering the room four jack-o -lanterns
w here th e lig h ts usually are. T h ere w ere decorations
of black cats and pum pkin devils and even th e p e n
n a n t had the spirit of th e day and w as upside dow n.
M adrona M ann and C atherine M adsen each told real
“ sp o o k y ” ghost stories; th e apple blossom chorus
sang; M yrtle M urree, Louise S ilverthorne and Rose
F ischer recited; C lara M orais read a them e on H a l
lo w e’en custom s; Rose Paul gave cu rren t events and
V iola Beyers read som e jokes.

A fine num ber of the program was the A pple Blossom
edition of the W inona W arw hoop. I t w as thoroughly
prepared and w’ell read by th e ed ito r, E dna H ill.
T h e visitors, M r. Bent and Mr. Iliff, w ere very kind
in th e ir rem arks to th e society, even th o ’ th e W arhoop
had a little fun at th eir expense. The evening closed,
after a brisk business session, w ith th e color song.
