for the Deaf. T hey were beaten by the latter by the close score of 38 to
32. On Ja n u ary 19th the ju n io rs were again beaten by th e sam e team
by the score of 35 to 33. Ja n u a ry 21st is a date w hich will be p u t down in
red ink in th e annals of Chem aw a athletics. On th a t date o u r team
defeated the strong aggregation from W illam ette U niversity by th e over
w helm ing score of 42 to 28. It was one of the fastest gam es ever
played in our gym nasium . On Jan u ary 28th our boys covered them selves
w ith undying glory by holding the fam ous Dallas team to th e close
score of 24-23. T h is gam e was played at Dallas. T h e Dallas team has
held the cham pionship lor the State of O regon for th e last ten years and
has not m et a single defeat on its own floor d u rin g the last tw elve years.
O ur boys played a b rilliant gam e and have a rig h t to be proud of th at
defeat. On Ja n u ary 29th th e O . A . C. freshm en came to Chem aw a and
were treated in the usual way; they were beaten by the score of 29 to 19.
T he success of our basketball team s has instilled a wholesome e n th u s
iasm into our boys and girls. A t the present w ritin g the dw ellers of
the Small B oys’ B uilding have organized a “ M idget T e a m ” and have
sent out challenges to a num ber of high schools. T h ere is also talk of
haying a so-called Dwarf I earn, which proposes to play a few gam es
w ith some small team s from Salem .
T he prospects for baseball are very b rig h t. T he m anager is w orking

T he A ssociation has lost its treasu rer, Dr. F u lk erso n , who was tra n s
ferred to the W arm spring reservation. H is place will be taken by
A lbert H . G illett, who will undoubtedly prove an en th u siastic and
faithful w orker on behalf of athletics at this school.
