to the Council, a quarterly statement of the financial state of the Associa
tion. This office may be filled only by an employee of the Chemawa
Indian Training School. Two weeks prior to each annual meeting,
the President shall appoint an Auditing Committee of two responsible
members, whose duty it shall be to balance the accounts of the Treas
urer and to report on same to the Association.
Section 6. The Manager shall have charge of all athletic affairs of
the school, unless otherwise stipulated. It shall be his duty to issue
calls for candidates for the several athletic branches, and to arrange the
dates and places for the various contests between Chemawa and other
institutions. He shall be responsible for the outfitting of the several
teams and of their members. He shall arrange the football schedule
not later than the end of August, the basketball schedule not later than
the end of October, the baseball schedule not later than the end of
March; and he shall see to it that these schedules are posted as soon as
possible. He may, at his discretion and with the consent of the Coun
cil, choose two assistants, who shall then become members of the
Council. The Manager and his assistants shall look after the gate re
ceipts and the sale of tickets for all games played on the home grounds
and they shall be empowered to receive Chemawa’s share for games
played in other towns. At the end of each game they shall turn over
these moneys to the Treasurer who will receipt same. The Manager
and his assistants shall also see to it that perfect order prevails during
all athletic contests. Whenever it shall become necessary to pay offici
als for their services during a contest, this shall be done by the Mana
ger who shall obtain a receipt for moneys thus paid out and transmit it
to the Treasurer. The Manager and his assistants shall also look after
the boarding and lodging of both the home and visiting teams. Further
more, it shall be his duty to accompany the several teams on all their
trips. If unable to do so, he may designate one of his assistants to as
sume full charge, who will then act in the capacity of Manager.
Section 7. The Coach shall have charge of a team prior to its ap
pearance on the field, when that duty shall fall to the respective Cap
tain. He shall arrange for a training table, whenever necessary, and
he shall have the power to dismiss any member from a team who, in
his opinion, is not fit to represent Chemawa. He shall have full con
trol in choosing the various members for the several teams. It shall
also be his duty to select the officials for the several contests. He
shall be selected by the Athletic Council, and he shall serve during its
pleasure. It is to be desired that a small amount of money, variable
from year to year, may be diverted from the funds of the Association
towards the paying of a nominal salary to the Coach.
