A mild English preacher had for some time been
displeased with the quality of milk served him. At
length he determined to remonstrate with his milk
man for supplying such weak stuff. He began mild
ly:
“ I ’ve been wanting to see you in regard to the
quality of milk with which you are serving me.”
“ Yes, sir,” uneasily answered the tradesman.
“ I only wanted to say,” continued the minister,
“ that I use the milk for dietary purposes exclusively,
and not for christening.”

FAMOUS CHARACTER IN TROUBLE
Daniel Defoe's famous hero was never haled into
court charged with failure to provide for a minor
child, according to authorized editions of the famous
story, yet a warrant was sworn out some time ago in
San Francisco by one Mrs. Lillian Crusoe, alleged
wife of Robinson Crusoe, in which she charged that
her spouse had failed to make any provisions for their
only child, Muriel. When Crusoe was taken into
custody by the police he was asked if Robinson Cru
soe was his real name.
“ Sure,” he answered, “ but nobody believes me.”
“ What do you know of Defoe?” he was asked.
“ Never heard of him. Is he the one who had
me arrested?’ ’
“ Take him away,” ordered the prison-keeper, and
