THE CHEMAWA AMERICAN
delight of the school. Mt. Angel was no match for L,ouis Paul's men,,
on the muddy field. End runs, line plays, forward passes, in fact, any
thing that Dowuie called was good for yardage. The first period end
ed with 38 to 0 and the second period the score stood 57 to 0. In the
second half Chemawa sent in the entire second team. They also drove
the Collegians down the field and scored six points, bringing the total
to 63 to 0.
November 7th we lost to our old rivals, the Aggie Freshman, 25 toO.
This team had seven varsity men in their line-up. Our boys did. well
to hold the score down, as this Freshmen team is better than many of
the college teams in the state. We played them to a stand still in the
first quarter; in the second they scored two touch downs, one in the
third, and one in the last period by picking up a fumble and running
thirty-five yards.
We were scheduled to play Pacific College on the 14th at Newburg,
but through the unsportsmanship of the college manager, he decided
rather than to take a good beating he would play safe by cancelling the
game. He charged that we were not playing a legitimate team; he over
looked the fact that they are playing one of their professors in all of their
games, also that this professor played against Chemawa both of the
last two years. - .
Willamette will not play us this year' because they feel that our team
is at least four touch downs better than they are. This is the Willamette
spirit. During the last three years nearly two hundred students headed
by the band have gone to the Willamette field, when we never expect
ed to score. This is the Chemawa spirit.
. On the 21st Pacific University will meet us on our field. Last year
they bested us by a 7 to 6 score, This year we should win by a good
margin. -
