T H E C O M IN G SCHOOL YEAR
Once more Chemawa’s portals are ajar. Many new students have
entered from various sections of our commonwealth and have settled
down to routine business. Supt. Wadsworth is informed of many
other young people who are expecting to arrive here shortly for enroll­
ment. The school has a real mission; there is a reason for its existence
and demand for its services; the efforts of its past have demonstrated
its efficiency—all of this is generally recognized.
• it is a grave resposibility that is ours, the education of youth. To
form character, to open the mind to all of those fundamental principles
which tend to foster reason and increase and perpetuate logic, is a work
of which any individual may be proud. We desire that our students
shall develop into real men and women, for then they will go out into
the world and carve for themselves such a destiny as shall be a credit
to themselves, their alma mater and every individval connected with it.
May our greatest desire be realized.
Work in all lines, industrial and academic, is now on in full swing.
We have an exceptionally good class of pupils and prospects for the com­
ing school year are exceedingly bright. A good percent of these students
come here with a purpose already conceived; they desire to perfect them­
selves along some particular line of work, and it goes without saying
that these pupils make the utmost of the opportunities found here. A
student with a purpose always has the best of it in any undertaking; there­
fore, we beseech all pupils to begin early in life to nurse a purpose.
The coming year will see the institution stronger than ever in many
wavs. It will offer more to those who enroll; it will be in a position to
