Recently Supt. \V adsworth made a flying trip down to Roseburg,
Oregon, on business.
Misses Antoinette White and Gertrude Brewer are at present over at
‘ ‘Newport by the Sea.’’
Our band, under the direction of Mr. Loos, played in Salem a couple
of days during the cherry fair.
M. L. Devol, one of our teachers, has gone back to his Ohio home
to spend a few weeks of his vacation.
Just recently Dr. Fulkerson returned from a trip to Lapwai, Idaho,
where he had attended a conference of physicians.
Since our last issue Mrs. Johnson, wife of one of our teachers, has
taken up her residence at the school and has the good wishes of all.
Mr. Hobucket, one of our school teachers, is spending a part of his
vacation at his home in the Neah Bay section in the State of Washington.
Marion Devol, son of one of our teachers, arrived at Chemawa from
his Ohio home since our last issue and has become identified with the
place.
Mr. L. A. Smith, our disciplinarian, was absent for a few day just after
commencement during which time he was attending business matters in
the Sound country, Washington.
The party given by the officers of Chemawa Battalion on the evening
of June 17th was fully up to the standard of former years and was a never-
to-be-forgotten affair for those present.
Mr. Henderson not long ago installed a soda fountain in his place of
business. This is a feature appreciated by all of our people, to judge
from the patronage received by the fountain.
Music for the Chemawa Alumni dance was furnished bv members of
the Peerless Orchestra of Salem, Oregon, under leadership of Miss Stege.
Many complimentary remarks were heard regarding the quality of the
music.
' Misses Katie Brewer and Christine Boswell were delegates from the
Chemawa \ . W. C. A. to the annual conference of the association for the
I acific Northwest, the sessions being held at one of the beaches of Wash
ington.
Recently Dr. Buchanan, superintendent at Tulalip, Wash., has kind
ly sent us a couple of programs of chapel exercises given at his school
on Sunday evenings. The programs were of the best and we congratulate
the Doctor.
