The above program was given in the Auditorium, Sunday evening,
February 15, 1914, in honor of the memory of Abraham Lincoln. This
unique program was planned and rendered by the senior girls under
the supervision of their teacher, Mr. M. L. Devol. It is seldom that an
entire evening’s entertainment is given by so few members of a class;
usually several classes join to give it.
The sketches of Lincoln’s life, the tributes to his name, the recita
tions and the selections from his speeches, were very appropriate and
well given, while the Lincoln stories told and read was altogether a new
departure from the accustomed manner of giving entertainments.
Nothing new can be said of our martyr president; the best that can be
done is to say the old things in a new and pleasing way. We all agree
this has been done by the senior girls. Much credit is due Mr. Devol,
senior teacher, for this splendid program which was gotten up entirely
out of school hours under his supervision.

The gardeners are very busy these days pruning the fruit trees.
Things look pretty at the orchard. The grass is green—looks more
like spring time.
I am very glad that Alaska is going to have a railroad. After it is
finished in will be the greatest place in the world.
