Miss M. Regina Long of the Salem High School has taken charge of
the girls’ societies. With her aid we will make the Nonpareil Literary

The Winona Literary Society met at the usual place on Thursday even
ing, January 27, 1914. We were pleased to have Miss Long of Salem
High School present. She gave us many helpful suggestions. We are
glad that it has been arranged for her to be with us and help us. She is
an experienced literary leader and by her help all the societies will be
benefitted.
The roll was called; a few members were absent. Our membership
is increasing and we are going to have a strong society. We have been
having very good programs. The following was not an exception; it
was short and every number was well prepared:

On January 23rd the Reliance Literary Society elected new officers as
follows: President, Jerry Rees; vice-president, George Fairbanks; secre
tary John Johanson; treasurer, James Todd; sergeant-at-arms, Charles
Owens; reporter, Wm. Jackson. The new officers began their work im
mediately. Arrangements are being made with the other societies for a
