was enjoyed by the stu d en t body and faculty. T he selections presented
were excellent and well rendered. T h e m usical num bers of th e program
are deserving of especial m ention and reflect g reat credit on those tak in g
part. T h e reading of H iaw atha by Louis Paul was pleasing, th e b eau
tiful th o u g h t suggested by the poet being clearly show n. T h e applause
and appreciation of the program in the way of a yell given by th e E x cel
sior Society was appreciated by the Reliance. Louis Paul, president of
the Reliance Society, deserves credit for the able m anner in w hich the
program was rendered and presented. Several boys who made an ap
pearance on the stage for the first tim e did well in the rendition of their

T h e “ G y m ” was the scene of m erry-m akiug and fun on C hristm as
eve when th e stu d en t body assembled to p articipate in the treat made
ready for them . “ M erry C h ristm as” in large green letters greeted
them as they entered the “ G y m ” . Tw o large C hristm as trees were
on th e stage, filled w ith presents for the small children and long tables
on eith er side held presents for older stu d en ts and em ployees.
A real
chim ney, w ith stockings han g in g up, and “ S anta C laus” came clam or
ing dow n w ith a pack on his back, was the delig h t of the little ones.
H e filled th e stockings up to the brim and shook hands w ith the little
ones and left presents for all. H e was a jolly old fellow and prom ised
