T h is race has taken a prom inent p art in the sp rin g sport for six years
and was becom ing m ore pop
ular each year. T h e cancel
lation of th is annual race had
been under consideration for
a long tim e and the athletic
m anagem ent feels fully ju s ti
fied in m aking th is stroke.
It has been observed th at the
health of the team after each
race has been d etrim en tal to
t ie ru n n ers, because the aver
age age of th e team has been
u n d er seventeen years. T he
five mile course in each relay is
too m uch of a g ru elin g contest,
w hich has left the boys in
poor physical co n d itio n . Now
th at the big race has been
discontinued C hem aw a wiil
p u t forth every effort to d e
velop a stro n g track team .

er am ount of daily work in
th e field we may count on
