Again we tip our hat to Willie Ready for cuts made for this issue_
every one his from start to finish.
Mr Woods and Ins boys have placed a set of new steps in front of the
omce building of our superintendent.
McBride Hall has been painted recently in most artistic shades of
color. The laundry has also been painted and now Mr. Sanders and
his detail are busy at the hospital.
Supt. Wadsworth has submitted plans to the Indian Office for the
establishment of new quarters for our bears. It is intended to make
the bear quarters more sightly and sanitary in every way.
Material and equipment for the ice and refrigerator plant is expected to
arrive on the grounds soon from the contractors. The plant is to be
located almost directly in connection with the power house, on the north
side.
Mr. C. M. Miller came to Chemawa recently to assume charge of
certain expert work for contractors, Fairbanks & Morse Mr Miller
has already won the respect and confidence of old and young at our
school.
At the time of closing our last forms for press Rev. John Steele was
expected to arrive at Chemawa to conduct a meeting or two It will
lie remembered by some that Rev. Mr. Steele was our visitor about a
year ago.
Exeriments are being made here at the school with sanitary paper
towels. Supt. Wadsworth says that, while all experiments so far have
been highly satisfactory, no decisive course of action in tile matter has
been settled.
Relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Swoboda, living in Nebraska, were among
the sufferers in the terrific tornado which recently swept through that
section of the country destroying life and propertv in the most ruth
less manner.
Supt. Wadsworth has recieved a communication from Acting Com-
missiner F. H. Abbott in reference to the matter of text-book sanitation

We are pleased to report that word that we received from Dr Buch
anan Superintendent of the Tulalip school, informs us that the school
building at that place is soon to be rendered more commodious bv a sec
ond story, which will give four additional classrooms and a newer and
larger assembly hall. An enlargement of schooling facilities at any
place is of greatest moment because it is an indication of growth-mental
growth, which is of the utmost importance.
