D uring the eight years of its w ork, T he N ational
A sso ciaio n 1 as assisted in the organization over 800 state and local anti-
tuberculosis societies located in almost every state and territo ry of the
union. O ver 500 hospitals and sanatoria have been established with
more than 3 »,000 beds for consum ptives. About 400 dispensaries w ith
more than 1,000 physicians in atten d an ce and at least 150 open air schools
for tuberculosis and anaem ic children have also been provided. Laws
dealing with tuberculosis have been passed in 45 states and ordinances
on this subject have been adopted in over 200 cities and tow ns. An
active field cam paign of education against tuberculosis has been carried
on in 40 states and territories by m eans of lectures, exhibits, the press,
and the distribution of over 100,000,000 pam plets on this disease.
