Laundry and Bourbon
Thursday night, August 21, at
Maude Kerns Art Center, the
newly formed actors ensemble,
Esprit de Corps, invites the com
munity to a pre-opening benefit
performance of Laundry and
Bourbon. Admission will be two
cans of food or a cash donation to
Food for Lane County. The James
McLure play about women's lives
in a small town will be performed
in the main gallery, 1910 E. 15th,
at 8 pm.
Laundry and Bourbon will open
Friday with a special opening
night performance by singer Liz
Klute of Wolf Creek. The play
will run for five performances on
ly, August 22 and 23, 28, 29 and
30. Tickets are $3.50 general
admission and are available at
Backstage Dancewear on the
downtown mall or at the door.
As the companion piece to
McLure's Lone Star, Laundry and
Bourbon gives us a glimpse at the
inner strength needed to exist in a
world that's sometimes just "too
hot and burnt for people" — as well
as the quiet joys of laundry, TV
gameshows, good friends, and
bourbon.
The play is unique in that its
three characters are women, and
through McLure's delightful and
rapid-fire dialogue, we can share
their sometimes hilarious.
