Conferences
"Challenge ’84," a conference scheduled July
26-27 at the Eugene Hilton Hotel, will bring
together educators, state policymakers and
scholars to discuss the Oregon Action Plan for
Excellence in the state's schools. Sponsored by
the U of 0 Center for Educational Policy and
Management and other educational groups, the
conference will focus on task force proposals
that, if adopted, would make substantial
changes in elementary and secondary education
in the state. Among the plan's recommendations
is a statewide curriculum that would provide all
Oregon students with a common core of learn
