the present. It includes Irving

which is arranged for voice or
piano. They are indexed by cover
artists, singers, films, operas, etc.

The Kids on the Block is a troupe
of disabled and non-disabled pup
pets which describe and discuss
their disabilities with children in a
puppet show format. The puppets
have a range of disabilities which
include Cerebral Palsy, Down's
Syndrome, blind, hearing im
paired, learning disabilities and a
near-sighted puppet who just ac
quired eyeglasses. The script
material allows the puppets to
question one another about his/
her disabilities and are designed to
show differences of disabled per
sons, not defects.

Oregon is the first state in the na
tion to have a Tax Check-off for
Oregon Art inaugurated by 1982
Legislature. You may check off
money from your income tax re
fund as contributions to the
Oregon Arts Development Fund.

apply for matching funds. Last

The Lane County Artists Slide
Bank will create a centralized col
lection of slides of artists' works,
plus information about the artists.
Members of the public interested in
purchasing or commissioning art,
or organizing an exhibit, may use
it at the Lane Regional Arts Coun

accepted through Feb 1. They are

Caravan, a camping experience
from March 19-April 3 for high
school students, grades 10-12.

There are a number of fund-raisers
organized to help students raise
money. Visit Mexican villages, a
Franciscan mission, sunbathe on
the beach. Stop in San Francisco
and Arizona.
The Oregon Dept, of Energy spon
sored a study called Solar
Domestic Hot Water Systems in
Oregon. It monitored 37 systems
plus 8 conventional heaters as a
control group. The typical solar
system met about 40% of the
energy needs for water heating and
saved 1900 Kwhr. Some of the bet
ter systems provided over 70% of
the annual hot water needs and
saved 3000 Kwhr. These were the
more recently installed systems.
All indicating solar energy is prac
tical in Oregon!
A benefit for the Northwest Work
ing Press will be held Sat, Jan 29 at
the Keystone Cafe. Mexican food
—both vegetarian and with meat
—will be served from 6-9 pm. Beer
will be served also, beginning at 4
pm. The cost of a dinner ranges
from $4.00-$6.00 (sliding scale)
