Apples in Winter plays music to have a good time by! Their repertory includes the traditional jigs, reels, and hornpipes
of Ireland, traditional American music, as well as contemporary and original material.
You may have heard some of these talented musician/entertainers before—in bands Just Friends or In Cahoots. Linda
Danielson, who plays fiddle and vocals, recently toured the Northwest with Change the Way It Is!. as musician and nar
rator of this two-woman stage documentary based on the lives of Appalachian women. Linda is a teacher, folklorist, and
versatile fiddler with a special love of Irish music.
On hammered dulcimer, concertina, bodhran, bones and vocals is Tom Nunn. Tom has been playing Celtic music for
nine years, and also builds and sells Irish harps.
Glenn Falkenberg plays both classical and steel-string guitar and vocals. Coming from a rock background, Glenn has
been interested in Celtic music for many years, as well as the music and instruments of India.
On baroque flute, pennywhistle, and vocals is Karen Owens, whose songs express the tradition of the Irish woman.
Along with Glenn, she is currently recording the tunes of an 18th century harper.
Apples in Winter plays for private parties, weddings, and celebrations. They have appeared on local television and
radio, in concert, and in the tavern. You can join them this weekend at the Union Oyster Bar, Friday and Satrurday, Nov
19 and 20, from 8:30 til 12:30. There's no cover.
