Grower’s Market
In these times of escalating costs, many of us are looking for ways to cut the
family food budget without sacrificing quality. Grower's Market, a non-profit
consumer co-op at 454 Willamette, offers an alternative method of food buying
worth considering.
On Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 to 7:30 pm. you can call 687-1145 and
place a food order or submit a written order. The co-op purchases and stocks a
variety of wholesome foods including fresh produce, breads. grains, flours,
cheeses, dairy products, and dried foods plus some toilet items, soaps, canned
goods, etc.
On Thursday afternoons between 4:30 and 7:30 pm you can go to the Market
and pick up your order. USDA Food Stamps are accepted. Extra food ordered
will be sold late in the day on Thursdays.
To keep prices as low as possible, each order requires one hour of work,
which can be done on either Wednesday or Thursday. You may prefer to mark
up your order 10% in lieu of working. Either way, you may find family food pur
chasing a new, more interesting experience, and cheaper too.
