_Nuclear War: Incurable Disease ‘
On Sunday, October 17 at 1:00 in the afternoon, KOAC (Channel 7. Cable
7) will carry an hour-long special entitled Nuclear War: Incurable Disease. (
What’s unusual about this program is that it was seen by an estimated one hun
dred million Soviet citizens when it was shown on official Soviet National TV on
June 24, 1982. Featuring an uncensored and essentially un-edited discussion of •
the medical consequences of nuclear war by 3 American doctors and 3 Soviet
doctors, the program will show us what the Soviet people are being told about
nuclear war in their country.
The American doctors are Dr. Bernard Lown, Dr. James Muller, and Dr. (
John Pastore; the Russian physicians are Dr. M. A. Ilyin, Dr. M. I. Kuzin, and 1
Dr. Eugene Chazov, who is President Brezhnev’s personal physician. Following «
the doctors’ discussion Hodding Carter, State Department spokesperson under
President Carter, Ann Garrels. former ABC Moscow correspondent, and Stuart ,
Loorey, Managing Editor of Cable Network News will continue with dis- I
cussion and commentary.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see for yourself what may be the Russian point e
of view regarding a U.S.-Soviet nuclear weapons freeze.
