Heavy winds and lightning and thunder rocked the landscape. Areas to the east of Sisters experienced significant damage, including crop losses on farms and ranches. Big thunderstorm rocks region Thunderstorms brought abundant lightning and rain to Central Oregon on Saturday. While Sisters Country mostly escaped the severe damage experienced in Culver, which saw a tor- nado, the area did experience some punishment 4 and some fire starts. Farms and ranches in the Lower Bridge area experi- enced serious impacts from hail, wind and flooding, which caused significant crop loss for some outfits. Lightning sparked at least one fire on the butte above Sisters Airport, and fire- fighters responded to four new incidents, including a one-acre blaze at the Perry South Campground near the Metolius River. While Saturday9s storms brought between a quarter- inch and a half-inch of rain across the region, firefighters expect to continue respond- ing to new incidents in the next couple of weeks as weather heats up and
